About Legends of Alterra
An epic adventure awaits! A classic RPG experience, with modern game design and deep battle strategy.
In the mysterious Kingdom of Alterra, a young princess defies her father and makes her own path in the world. She makes invaluable companions along the way, and learns the truth about the Kingdom she is destined to inherit. The rich story includes several overlapping narratives, character growth, and twists.
The game features a dynamic timeline system that determines the order of actions in battle. Character and enemy icons move along a timeline at the top of the screen, showing when each combatant will act. This timeline system adds an element of strategy, as you can delay or interrupt enemies by well-timed actions. The system also allows for deep character customization, including a job system (with primary classes and subclasses), skill point system (acquire and spend points to learn class-specific skills), and a deep magic system.
Concoct useful items from ingredients you come across during your journey. Customize your characters with unique items, equipment, classes and traits!
Zelda-like puzzle solving allows you to manipulate your surroundings and progress through the many dungeons scattered across the world.

Legends of Alterra is a 2D RPG akin to Final Fantasy of old and a wonderful debut from a one-person indie, New Moon Studios. The game follows Princess Verity, learning of political intrigue before a single decision thrusts her into a world she only learned about through her studies with her mom. The story takes players on a journey across Alterra as Verity teams up with kids like Arthur, Ellia, an elf named Darian, etc to heal the world before everything falls apart. A game created in RPGMaker, I was pleasantly surprised that as RPG combat goes, learning the Cancel mechanic was sort of a treat. Being able to have my party cancel enemy attacks to help charge a big "**** you" spell always felt pretty good until I ran out of mana. There were some parts in the early game when you unlock additional character classes that felt slow as I leveled to unlock more skills but never grew bored of the combat. The maps themselves were pretty and a joy to explore and the music (there's a lot of music) always matched the tone for what the story beat was delivering. When I finally beat LoA and credits rolled, I thought it was worth the time spent. Give it a try!2 found this helpful
Can't say I am convinced of this game. Maybe that is the reason why I ask for an refund. I don't have anything against teen actors. But at last the story should be interesting. From the start this was split into 2 sections: a) a Princess with an ill mother and an gullible father. Add to that an consultant that also gives the Queen potions and soup to get her better (one look at her and you know she is anything than good) and because the Queen can't support the King needles him to finish the elves. b) a young girl living with father and step-mother...and guess what the father must go to war (against the elves) and ...oh you all know the problems with step-mothers in fairy tales. Maybe I am too harsh but that sound just too childish for me. But that's not all....The fights....I don't know if they got better later on...but ATM they are just a nuisance. It should be possible to interrupt the enemies....dunno doesn't work for me. In fights the best player is...the dog!!! Most times he kills the enemy in 1 round whereas the 2 playable characters don't do much damage. So the dog is fine....but not outside of fights. He runs wild around you and more than once blocked the way..1 found this helpful
