Players are divided on this KEMCO RPG: some praise its throwback to classic Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest-style gameplay with a unique crafting system and engaging story, while others find it repetitive, boring, and derivative of the developer's previous works with recycled assets and tedious turn-based combat. Common complaints include uninspired enemy encounters, clichéd storytelling with awkward modern references, and the sense that it offers nothing new if you've played other KEMCO titles.
3 times I tried to play this game...3 times I canceled this ambition after a few hours playtime. This game is just too boring. It starts with the overdone use of rescue the world with a bunch of querulous teens. Than the fights; not that they are hard (even if you play on harder difficult) they are just ehh boring. You only see the front of a column of enemies and after killing them the next in line pops up.. The NPC's and towns are ...I dunno owns Exe only one set for them? Because they use the same in most of their games. All in all I can say: if you have ever played one game from this dev than you know what to expect...save the money and play the old game again.3 found this helpful
This is a great game. So first I had never played a game by KEMCO or by Exe Create, and when I played it I thought the lucky tickets and craft weapons were a pay to win thing. I was wrong it's all in game drops. That being said the game itself is amazing. It feels like an old Final Fantasy game or a old Dragon Quest. That means at least in my eyes that it's doing jrpgs justice. Having played it up to about the second dungeon, I can say it is worth it to get. The story while a little long winded and without voice acting, is still a great story that I want to know more of. The gameplay is unique as the item system is a lot like Star Ocean Second Story, but the battles themselves are like Dragon Quest. This makes for a complex system that is easy enough to learn but still require skill to execute.3 found this helpful
Has less going for it than other kemco rpgs. story was also cheesey with moments that clash with current society. weirdly difficult but only if you want the true end. which is all lame considering the characters were some of the best they've made.
