Dragon Lapis

Excellent sequel! Expanded and improved in nearly every way over Dragon Sinker. This series has won my heart, and deserves attention from any classic JRPG fan.

Great RPG.

Dragon Lapis, an pixelated light JRPG. It's like playing one on the GBC....but without the depth. You get your party of 4 and (the biggest pro) can change Jobs. To master said Jobs you must find Job-plates and than gain special points to full those plates (for each Job you'll need many many plates). Now that is the selling point for this game and also his biggest weakness. You see to gain points you'll need grinding excessive grinding. In fact there are 2 ways to play this game: a) forget about the Jobs and play a real JRPG. b) do the Jobs and the associated 2 extra dungeons and the rest of the game is like a walking sim.....I played on Hard and finished the last opponent with 1 Hit. The gameplay is very straightforward. You must defeat and evil and visit several dungeons. Each consist of several levels. No secrets and encounter every few steps. Even with normal play you'll reach the highest level (99) before the endgame. Like most of Exe games there is a normal end and if you continue playing you reach the Happy Ending. This time it is only one short extra dungeon. So can I recommend this game.....It has is flaws but still it was funny.

dragon warrior nostalgia, I recommend the game if you're able to get it with a 35-50% discount

Solid little game. The retro look fits the gameplay as you'd hope. Cute characters I Very much a love letter to the 16-bit jRPG era. Without getting into spoiler territory, a lot of the design choices really made me smile as I encountered them; Quality of life options I would have loved back in the day fit seamlessly into the overall feel of the game. Music was good enough but didn't have the old Kemco vibe I admit I was hoping to hear a bit of. Not a soundtrack I'm gonna put on for fun though. The job leveling system I came to really like but even after 20+ hours I never felt like the menus for managing "Plates" was ever anything but terribly clunky. It's a pity they didn't put in an option to just make that menu a straight list instead of the showy-but-awkward style they used for it. That's literally my biggest complaint about the game, but considering how integral that is to the game itself it becomes hard to ignore. Nothing is perfect and Dragon Lapis is no exception. Oh, and anyone worried about the paid add-ons/"cheats": Don't be. They are COMPLETELY unnecessary and can totally just be ignored. not my first choice for a kemco rpg, or even the dragon series. it's fairly bare bones and has this fomo inducing stat system similar to ff10. That said it's still enjoyable. just odd the formula regressed since sinker and prana
