This is yet another student project, one of literally thousands self-published on Steam Direct. It's from DigiPen. This is an academic exercise, not a professional game. While it has more quality than most amateur games, it is not a complete gaming experience. Student projects have limited value for gamers because they're not fully developed games, just barely functional demos that show the students progress. Steam is not a place for for-profit colleges to dump student homework assignments... and having thousands of these is not good for gamers. The students made a console-esque (did they know Steam is PC only?) third person puzzle adventure game which is admittedly charming, I guess. The idea is you have a magic flute in a magical world with magical critters and Opera is dead. I don't know how to break this to the students, but Opera has been around for 400 years and it still never caught on. Stop trying to make Opera happen, it's not going to happen. Anyway, you get to make Opera great again by playing the magic flute to move things around and solve puzzles, and of course doing a bunch of repetitive and boring fetch quests. Decent game for a toddler, although it stuck on a note indefinitely during a quest saving dinosaurs from rockslide and fcked up my head and had to alt+f4 but still recommended. Good luck in your careers.

When it comes to instruments, I agree that the more ergonomic and intuitive option usually lies in controllers rather than keyboards, but dual-shock support still remains elusive, and so I'm relegated to the Qwerty piano. I played a round on Beginner, finding that most puzzles were able to be "note-mashed" for lack of a better term, and so I basically disregarded the sprites advice about looking at the colors of objects nearby. Even when I did actually pay attention to this principle in "Advanced" mode, there was never an indication of what note to start on, and so I feel that if the intent was to complete each segment in order to hear the full melody, such a thing requires perfect knowledge of the game. I won't beat a dead horse talking about the janky movement, instead I'll advise that next time you simply put all your eggs in one basket. The game is mostly a Mind motivated color-melody riddle, with a Land paint-over to ensure that the premise doesn't seem too nerdy and obscure. Lirica Positives: + Nice idea + Kidfriendly + Ok sounds + Beautiful music + Peaceful and atmospheric + Cute miniworld to explore + Nice graphics + Simple puzzles + Weird creatures + Its free Negatives: - If you overthink the flute puzzles (its really simple) - Jumping and platforming are not the best (weird, slow & inaccurate) - Bugs (stuck in the terrain, floating over ground etc) - Its very short (over in under an hour) This was a really cute and atmospheric game for kids of all ages. If you like relaxing music, small puzzles, weird creatures and exploring, well look no further. Its very short though, so enjoy it while it lasts. Highly reccommended! Total Score: 8/10
