About Loki

A fantasy voyage through the great mythologies, Loki allows the player to take on the role of one of the four heroes of the game, each drawn from a different mythology: a mighty Norse fighter, a fierce Greek warrior, a powerful Egyptian magician or an Aztec shaman who masters the secrets of the spirit world.
Whatever hero the player adopts, he must come to the aid of the gods he worships. He will come to realize that behind the chaos that is threatening his world lies Seth, the Egyptian god of darkness and evil, who has returned from the kingdom of the dead.
The hero must therefore undertake an epic journey across the various epochs and myths. He will fight a multitude of monsters of all shapes and sizes, and even overthrow a few gods, on his way to preventing Seth establish his wicked reign.
  • An epic adventure across four great mythologies - Aztec, Egyptian, Greek and Norse - allowing the player to live through many of the key episodes that mark these cultures (the siege of Troy, Ragnarok, ......) and setting him in the path of the most prominent figures within each episode (Achilles, Thor, Akhenaton...)
  • Choose from four different heroes with radically different attributes and powers. Each hero has a vast array of spells and skills to help him through his quest.
  • More than 100 monsters of all shapes and sizes.
  • Dare to take on mythological creatures that struck fear into the hearts of our ancestors (Fenrir the giant wolf, the Minotaur in his labyrinth, ...)
  • Innumerable story lines through random generation of decors and items, so that nobody lives the same experience and allowing the game to be played many times without the hero ever having the same set of weapons, armour or spells.
  • Weapons, being made of two parts (loosely «handle» + «cutting edge») and from different materials, can be customised at the village forge to change characteristics. Magic runes, found along the way, can multiply a weapon's power.

✦ AI summary

Players consistently praise Loki's striking visual design, engaging mythology-based story, and fast-paced combat that still holds up as casual fun, but nearly universally criticize its dated and clunky gameplay mechanics, significant technical issues including bugs and crashes, and particularly brutal early-game balance that frustrates new players. Despite these flaws, the game maintains appeal for those nostalgic about it or willing to overlook its shortcomings for its aesthetic and narrative qualities.

Design and graphics in this one are fantastic to this day. Gameplay... Not so, lightly speaking. In my Hack-&-Slash ARPGs tier-list LOKI is at the bottom. Well, almost. First FATE is at the bottom, LOKI is definetely higher than that one. If Steam would allow "mediocre" rating, i'd choose this, but i will rate it "Yes" solely because i do love designs and story, and game is definetely worth a price tag for just that. A-a-and because LOKI is one of my childhood games, really close to heart... I still replay it time to time. It is truly good casual no-brainer bloody action - something i really appreciate in games as of late.

Good, similar to Diablo..but..filled with annoying glitches and game crashes. my rating is 5/10. Ending is also anticlimactic since nothing happens, plot wise. But doesn't surprise me either.

Yeah, what everyone has said before, bugs, glitchy rubber-banding in multiplayer games, not the smoothest pathing.... however, if you like accurate researched mythology, a good story (with a meta plot), fast and furious combat, a challenge, Loki is a great game (despite the negatives). I finished it 15 years ago playing multipalyer with my wife, and now I'm back for another playthrough. I ditched winslop and am running Loki on Linux, butter smooth.

This game wasn't great back in 2007, but in 2025 it feels like a cheap imitation of a Unity Asset Flip.

Steam should give us option to choose mixed review. I don't hate it, i don't love it. Pros: + action packed arpg + blood + mythology Cons: - everything is clunky (even older games than Loki had better movement) - Loki has the most unbalanced early game ever. Wow, that's the achievement. If you play as Nord, you don't have any options to counter those waves of enemies. Too many monsters leads to your death. And you will be spawned at the entrance of level. Good luck backing up to being killed a dozen of times. IMO the early game will make most players putting away Loki. If you don't have fun from the very beginning, you will uninstall it. Too bad because it had potential to be good game
