About LONE RUIN
Lone Ruin is a spell-based roguelike twin-stick shooter with a focus on replayability. Play as an explorer who seeks a mysterious ancient power and venture in a ruined magical city, built atop a source of magic used by olden mages to power and transform themselves. Dive deeper and deeper, battling your way through twisted creatures, utilising your very own magic abilities to ultimately reach the center of the Lone Ruin.
An ancient city enveloped by magic. What once was a buzzy civilisation and people living in harmony with the magic surrounding them has long since been driven mad and twisted beyond recognition by the very magic that used to help sustain them. What could have corrupted this city? Having heard the legends, you, a gifted spellcasting explorer, arrive at these hostile ruins a millenia later with the goal of seeking this ancient power and finally cleansing the city of the corruption it was consumed by all those years ago. The answer probably lies in the center of Lone Ruin… if you can make it there.
Fight your way through blood-pumping battles and more than a whole host of enemies and multiple bosses in several distinct, hellishly vibrant areas. Don't let the horrifying creatures get the best of you!

I wouldn't outright call Lone Ruin a bad game, just set your standard really low and get this at a very high discount. This is made for people who like repetition and the challenge of being right up in the leaderboard. The main core issue it suffers from is the cost and it being a roguelite rather sticking to being survivor game. Also, the lack of story and soundtrack doesn't help, but it doesn't mean you can't have some fun with it, but it is short-lived for about an hour or so. Better than some other games that waste hours and hours of your time grinding which may not be saying much to convince you to play this game which I'm not trying to achieve here. Just be aware of what you may be avoiding or getting yourself into. Take what you can of this game for whatever reason you feel you really need to.5 found this helpful
Lone Ruin is an intense Action Roguelike where you play as a mercenary with mage powers and delve into dungeons filled with dangers and secrets. The game offers 3 main zones each ending with a big boss battle, you go through waves of enemies in each area leading up the zone boss and get reward with your choice of picks on door area selection. The game is really tight and really fast paced, there are no meta progressions pre run, you can only get stronger during the run itself either from active / passive spells upgrades. Responsive mechanics with responsive controls which I really enjoyed alot. The music and OST in the game are Electronic Dark Synth beats that will really put you into that intense run vibes / mood. The boss fights were all intense and yet fun at the same time, pumping that adrenaline and keeps you focused the whole fight, paying attention to those quick projectiles launched at you and dodging at the same time will be really crucial in order take down each boss. Really recommended Action Roguelike with Hades like runs but instead of Bullet Hell theme and lots of projectiles instead, must try for the fans of the genre. Overall Rating 9/101 found this helpful
Everything is purple, which makes it very hard to see the enemies. A colorblind mode is necessary for this game. When choosing a path, it would be helpful if the item showed what it does underneath it, since you don’t know what the items do at first. You also can’t see which chapter or stage you are currently in. The game is very short and doesn’t really give a sense of progression; some form of meta-progression would have been nice. Still, it’s a good game if you’re paying around $1-2.1 found this helpful
I bought it for 3 bucks and at that price it's definitely worth it. A very responsive rogue-like that can be beat in an evening. The soundtrack is lovely too, so I'll be picking that up as well.1 found this helpful
Thought they art style was cool at first but it becomes sort of a nightmare to focus on. The game play is okay but it feels like it is missing meat/substance to the game. Maybe if you pick it up for a couple bucks as a time killer but honestly Hades I/II are so much more bang for your $. Disliked it after 8 minutes of playtime and Steam won't allow a refund because some of us have lives and can't play our games right away.1 found this helpful
This game is a hidden gem for Hades and Binding of Isaac enjoyers. Also, the soundtrack is just awesome!
