Civilization entered an age of rapid technological advancement, but Earth's resources were depleting at an alarming rate. In a desperate effort to secure humanity's future, pioneers were sent to the Moon, where they uncovered a miraculous substance known as Blackstone—a limitless energy source capable of renewing other resources. There was just one problem: Blackstone became inert the moment it left the Moon. To harness its power, pioneers established a space station on the lunar surface, beginning extensive research into what would become known as "Blackstone technology."The Moon soon transformed into a new haven, a sort of Noah's Ark for humanity, as people began migrating there in search of a fresh start. This discovery ignited a renewed sense of hope for the survival of mankind and the quest for a new home. As research into Blackstone deepened, humanity uncovered a second, hidden potential within the material: the ability to empower human souls. Blackstone could manifest the strength of belief and even grant machinery life. Thus, the "New Moon Project" was launched in secrecy. This game used to be really good before the most recent update. It basically changed everything. Before, it controlled like a Mega Man X game or like the Knight from Hollow Knight. Now it has mouse aiming, which for a controller player like me is pointless, so auto-aiming it is, which kind of takes away the skill and control the game used to have. The platforming rooms are gone too. All non-boss action segments seem to have been replaced with survival rooms where they just throw tons of mobs at you until the timer runs out. More often than not, I don’t even know what hit me because the screen gets so cluttered, and the most effective strategy is just stay in the corner and try not to engage as much as possible. I really preferred the old style, where you just cleared a room based on how many enemies there were. At least then your progress depended on how fast you could actually play, not just waiting for a timer. A lot of items don’t even have descriptions now either. Hopefully they roll back these core gameplay changes, because it’s honestly gotten pretty boring. It’s a shame, because I really had high hopes for this game. It can't be recommended in it's current state. I wrote more about it on my own blog but well, one of it's main issues is localization (or more like, outright missing localization strings so majority of the items are blank, or use JP strings) and wave rooms that don't play into the combat flow at all, along with poor telegraphy of attacks. v0.2 to v0.1 is like a day and night difference, in terms of mechanics and how fun it is. I'm not even really sure why they changed this to begin with... just improve upon the concept instead of throwing it all away and changing it? I wouldn't suggest getting this game unless you wanna play on older version (downgrade via steam console), or you know Chinese as game has partial (probably ML lol) translation for JP and EN that stops making sense the moment you read more than 3 strings.
