Shame that good visuals and atmosphere got paired with game design issues, so the game ends up repetitive, frustrating, and boring. Combat is not much forgiving and you can't block, you can only attack and move around. It's neither an RPG or a shooter, weird to play such a game made in a dedicated FPS engine. Like you're playing a melee only in an otherwise FPS game. This idea clearly has potential, yet the game doesn't deliver (all of) that.

Lycanthorn 1 and 2 are in here, so no need to get the first game on itchio if you want to play through everything -- There are a few differences from the actual Lycanthorn 1 compared to the version in here, but not much reason to get the itchio version. + I mainly found these series of games through Mohrta which I recommended a friend to play. I just find the world and design to be very interesting. Games that are easy to pick up and put down are just more of my thing, not much investment and story buildup needed. Personally, I find these sorts of graphics to be charming and I wish to see other developers just make what they're interested in, no matter how niche it is, doesn't need to be the most polished thing ever to be fun and enjoyable.

play it for the atmosphere, that's its best quality. the music is alright if derivative, the gameplay has some questionable design and quality. i played both campaigns and it took a little under 2 hours to finish both of them combined. there's no talking to anyone or buying from a shop, just slash and shoot with the different characters you get. it's really cool conceptually, the execution is pretty basic though. if you've ever wanted to walk through an NES Castlevania or Zelda game, this does that ok. I'd recommend a guide, though i didn't use one and it's totally beatable without one, but i did wander around a bit. oh and just cheat the final bosses of the first game, you're not missing anything crazy gameplay wise, i stopped counting how many hits the second form of that boss took after 100, but i think it was above 200 total hits.

too hard. you take way too much damage per hit and the enemies can kill you in one or two swings. there's no difficulty selection and only one weapon as far as i'm aware. next time, test your games. one person's easy is another person's too difficult

This is a pretty cool but shallow Doom-engine indie FPS series with Castlevania aesthetics. There's actually two games here- the first mostly has you doing melee attacks. You get a cool but mostly useless kick and can throw holy water if you collect hearts from candles (Sound familiar?). It's mostly pretty easy and linear but the middle and final level are kind of brutal and took me some time. Lycanthorn 2 is also on here. In the first game you killed Nosferatu's bride to be, and in this game you are tasked to kill Nosferatu. The only hard thing about this game is the navigation. This game was obviously more inspired by Link to the Past in terms of graphics, but it still has a lot of Castlevania design elements. You now go into levels to recruit characters. Obviously once you get a character that shoots projectiles you can stop using the werewolf altogether, and you later get a character with better platforming skills, so even though the game is called "Lycanthorn" you will stop playing as the main character almost immediately. The whole game is super easy but you have to unlock areas in order on a world map. Some levels require keys and some are totally optional to recruit n…
