About Mahjuro

Build the hands. Break the rules.

Mahjuro is a mahjong roguelite deckbuilder that turns familiar tile hands into unstable scoring engines, with a rule-bending structure inspired by Balatro. Draw tiles, form pairs, sequences, triplets, and kongs, then cash in your growing structure for scores that climb from careful clears to impossible numbers.

Every run pushes you deeper through seven wings of the House. Between chambers, spend your winnings on relics, tile packs, talismans, and zodiacs that twist the rules in your favor. A quiet hand can become a runaway scoring engine if you build it carefully.Bosses don't play fair. They restrict tiles, twist scoring, and force you to adapt. Break the House's rules before it ends your run.

Inside the House

  • Build hands from pairs, sequences, triplets, and kongs
  • Cash in structures for escalating scores
  • 7 wings, 21 chambers, and 20+ rule-bending ordeals
  • 100+ relics that stack, echo, scale, and sometimes break the game on purpose
  • 15 yaku to unlock, level, and build a run around
  • Tile packs, talismans, zodiacs, and relics to buy between rounds
  • More items unlock as you play

I've been playing a lot of this game. The rules are confusing at first but I soon learned how to do some of the basics. With that knowledge I have gotten past spring and summer difficulty. I like that the game is designed to force the player to make a new "deck" every time there is a new playthrough. It makes each run unique and I don't know how it is going to go at all. I have passed spring and summer difficulty with the tactic to just feel out the rules. Once I got the hang of it I have been playing obsessively. It is great for relaxing and taking my mind off things.

Imagine an addicting minigame in Shin Megami Tensei that's more fun than the actual game. That’s Mahjuro. The creepy atmosphere and scary house aside - it is a fun and interesting take on mahjong. It lures you in at first—and then it gets a lot harder to win. Random thoughts: - Boss battles could feel a little more tense/have higher stakes beyond not reaching the score - maybe something like the boss having a “turn” to replace tiles or ding your score. 😈 - The music is TOO hypnotic and I end up playing longer than I think I have - I look forward to making my own tileset soon! That’s all for now. Thanks :)

I love this game! I was a novice in the world of Mahjong and now I'm melding with the best of them. There is a great tutorial and guidebook to help beginners who have not played Mahjong. THE CREEPY HOUSE WILL NOT DEFEAT ME!
