METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.1 BONUS CONTENT

I don't think anyone really cares about the NES games beyond historical curiosity, and in terms of emulation they're obviously fine. But a lot of people are going to overlook the digital graphic novels, and I think they're pretty interesting in their own right. The first DGN was originally released on the PSP, and back then I remember not really getting into it because of both the presentation (it had music and sound effects, but no voice acting, which was later added when it was made into a 'movie' for the Legacy Collection) and the fact that at the time it was being billed as a replacement for playing MGS1, despite it obviously making a lot of heavy story cuts to fit into a 2 hour runtime. But reapproaching it now on its own merits, a lot of the story changes are pretty clever, and you can tell the writer really understood the assignment as well as the series as a whole up to that point. Some changes are made to layer the story over itself to shorten the runtime and some are just there to help the story mesh with the series narrative at the time, like finally correcting Dr. Clark's identity or trying to reconcile Gray Fox's personality with his other more current incarnations. Including the NES games is neat, but I'm real glad they included the motion comics, served as a great refresher to watch before the MGS4 port came out.

Hell yes, Snake's Revenge finally rereleased in all of its janky glory. If you really think about it, it pretty much presaged all of Metal Gears major plot developments, and it has the best music.
