Hard to believe this game released back in 2021, time flies alright.... This is a really fun game, only hard part is the boss obviously. Sometimes you can cheap them out if you have good cores you've "tried your best" to keep all the way to the boss and other times you are just screwed. I still hate that my friend who made it (and his team now I guess) updated the game to only have stages before fighting the boss up to 3, it used to be 4. Now that I've beaten the game I rather just run around destroying things rather than fight the boss. I really wish before he stopped updating the game he made some endless mode or a 50 to 100 floor challenge or just simply an endless mode so I can keep running around playing all day. I swear he showed me something else that was coming before he stopped working on the game which was a New boss and I can't find that info anymore and I haven't talked to the guy in years since now he owns a company somewhere in Korea. Anyway long story short, the buffs/debuffs in this game are great and very well thought out. it's a few I hate but...mmm you know, that's games for you. Before the full stop update he added new weapons such as Miku's Leak stick (Miku …2 found this helpful
I discovered this game way back in 2021, and admittedly downloaded it for free on IGGGames. To my surprise, i fell in love with it rather quickly. And I'd return to it frequently. It is a roguelite through and through, but it definitely has it's own identity. You really have to play it to find out. In a short time of messing around in the game, the mechanics suddenly "click", and you get hooked. I forgot all about this game a few years ago. But recently I've been returning to some of my fave roguelites, like Hades, and then I suddenly remembered Metallic Child. I decided to look it up on Steam and pay for it properly, as i should have years ago. Coming back to it, I still love it very much. Trust me when I say this is a VERY underrated game. If you like roguelites and anime cyberpunk artstyle with a big dose of cuteness, then it's a must play. And make no mistake, the cuteness is misleading, because this game is for gamers who enjoy some difficulty. And there is even the occasional dark humor sprinkled throughout too, interestingly enough. This game is for adults. Kids will struggle. Glad I remembered to add this to my library. Absolutely worth every penny.1 found this helpful
Bosses are a little on the spongey side. Rooms get full of enemies and frantic at times, to where you can tell it wasn't play-tested or planned out very much. Enemies also attack way too often, to the point where you can't create a gameplan that involves anything other than poking and running away or dodging and blocking constantly. And the other thing is, your defensive options aren't good enough to give you a way around this. The no-no of everything turning into bullet hell rears its ugly head here a little bit as well. The levels are also very long and there's no checkpoints. Overall, the game would be fun if not for these frustrations. The art, the music and the storytelling are all pretty great. The characters are a little yappy but the dialogue is voiced and fun to listen to. Feel this game is very middle of the road, especially compared to Smashing The Battle.1 found this helpful
I like roguelites and I agree that this one is unique however with that said its really not the best and heres why and to preface I only encountered one bug so what I encountered is likely intended gameplay. 1. The dodging and block mechanic is not 100% reliable in that some times even though you hit the input a second earlier the game ignores it about 30% of the time in my experience even with full charge. 2. Miniboss characters are often poorly placed and have the spongiest hp bars that the most reliable method is tossing enemies at them for collision damage. 3. Some miniboss characters can grab and their range is absurd, about twice their occupied space in a 180 degree area in front of them with dodging often being ineffective and blocking entirely useless. 4. Difficulty slops upward hard after the first boss defeat which may be due to biomes or a difficulty curve i couldnt tell. 5. weapon choices are pretty slim in most runs often being locked behind an absurd ingame price tag or in the corner of a map if you're lucky and usually without an S-teir weapon the main boss is an absurd slog 6. Main boss hp bars are tanky af and require more patience than skill to b…1 found this helpful
there is jumping and dodging in this game the red stuff you need to dodge and the purple you need to jump over/ move out of the way but the thing is the red stuff you can jump over even if it looks like it will not hit you it will, big lazer on the ground and you try to jump over it? still hits you small red ball? still hits you, I just don't like it.
might be better to play with controller but alas, its good!
