Just get it. Yes updates are slow, and there's much to be desired, Mods fix the majority of it. It DID get a large update recently (from when I had purchased it I'd say it took roughly 5-6 months for the first update). Probably one of the best TD games I've played, and maybe even my new favorite one. It's a toss up between this & PixelJunk Monsters.
