Million Card Game

A simplistic card game with some issues. Primarily, it feels very uneventful. Out of my 20 minute play time it felt like a large majority of turns were nothing turns where all that happened was both me and my opponent drew a card with nothing available to play. I genuinely had a match where I could do nothing for 10 turns in a row, while my opponent could only play 2/10 times. It's very hard to stay invested in a game where it feels like nothing is happening. I tried playing a few different matches but ultimately got bored during most of them and stopped before completion. Single player absolutely gets boring quick but if you have someone to play with locally it's decent for a round or so I guess, assuming you get lucky and not trapped in nothing to play purgatory. The main way I think this game could be improved is including more combination options to make it a little faster paced, because it really truly honestly feels like nothing is happening more often than not. Million Card Game is a small card game that looks really simple when I first start it, but the way I can move cards around on the table gives it more to think about than I expected. The main goal is to get rid of all the cards in my hand, and I can do that by making groups with cards of the same rank or runs using cards from the same suit. The interesting part is that I can take cards out of groups that are already on the table and use them to make new combinations. That makes every turn feel a little less obvious because I am not only looking at the cards in my hand. I like the way the table can constantly change. I might put down a group that looks useful, then realise a few turns later that I can break part of it apart and use those cards somewhere else. It gives me more freedom than a basic card game where once a group is played it is basically finished. I have to pay attention to what is already on the table as well as what I am holding, and sometimes the best move is to leave a useful combination available instead of immediately taking advantage of it.
