Nameless - The Departed Cycle

[i]Nameless - The Departed Cycle[/i] is a dark fantasy VN focused on two men: Israh, the game's main protagonist, who's seeking a legendary cure to save his son's life; and Nameless, a mysterious man Israh meets in the forest. (There are a few small places in the game where the story is shown from Nameless' perspective; you can tell when you're in one when the textbox border changes to be purely orange instead of the green-orange gradient.) One of the main problems short romance VNs tend to have is that they often take place over such a short period of in-story time that the relationship doesn't really feel believable. [i]Nameless - The Departed Cycle[/i] seems at first to fall into the same trap (Israh and Nameless' initial contact occurs over the space of only three days), but rather than ending the game where I thought it would end (with [spoiler]Israh leaving the forest with Nameless' favor and a promise to come back after curing Bastion[/spoiler]), it goes on a bit farther, showing [spoiler]Visage taunting Nameless/Vermillius over how short the relationship was and wearing him down to believing that Israh will never come back (he does come back)[/spoiler]. This is such a good dark romantasy story and I'm here for it! Both characters are super hot and the music is a treat to the ears. Everyone should play this NOW

"Nameless - The Departed Cycle" is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This e-book is pure cringe, it's an LGBTQIA+ friendly romance novel about, you guessed it, the authors favourite topic, his imaginary magical boyfriend. It's very difficult to ascenrtain here which is worse, the quality of the writing (awful) or the sheer magnitude of the cringe (weaponsed), but as usual, all of these e-books about the authors imaginary girlfriend/boyfriend/furry/whatever are just the cringiest things imaginable. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literatu…

Absolutely loved this game! The art style is gorgeous and the story line kept me hooked until the very end and even after. Even with going back to get the different endings, it was still engaging and captivating. The audio was also wonderful and helped keep me engaged. Wish there was a longer game play, but that's because I just want to continue playing. It's definitely not too short and got everything it needed within the time span. I can't say enough praises for this game. Definitely recommend playing it!
