Neon Boost

Pretty cool game. I beat it in the past and replayed it just now. I really like the mechanic of the music moving with your character's speed. I struggle with completing most levels above a silver. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if the game just hasn't explained something to me. The wallrunning in this game is not fantastic. The way it locks your camera can get really annoying when you are on the upper part of the wall and need to shoot off of it for the next jump.

good idea but subpar execution. The wallrunning locks your camera which isn't the smoothest interaction but whats worse is that you can flick your mouse to fight the camera lock and in some cases beat it. The camera lock itself is bad as it prevents more creative solutions but more on that later. The movement as a whole is mediocre. It not good but its not that bad. Maybe I skipped a tutorial but rocket jumping isn't intuitive. You would think that standing closer to the explosion would give more 'damage' and thus 'knockback' however it seems the opposite is true instead. You want to jump, wait 0.3s, then shoot your rocket for maximum height or distance. This doesn't seem to matter on wallshots but I didn't pay that much attention to those shots so I could be mistaken. If you shoot a rocket while falling, it'll actually pull you in as well. The pacing of the game is alright. There is a mix of long and short levels. The levels themselves have much to be desired. To get the Neon Medals (one above gold), you are basically skipping the whole level. This isn't too special but it does limit the possible solutions to a level.
