Newcomer : A Language Learning RPG

I'm really upset that Intermediate mode is glorified AI language learning.

For the money it's an okay game, but don't rely on it to learn a new language. The audio is AI slop and the pronounciations are *NOT* correct. My advise would be to play with the sound off, it can still be a learning experience that way. And for the price it's doable, even when muted.

I think this is pretty good game and can be helpful on one's language learning journey, provided expectations are maintained. I first discovered this game before the 1.5 update while searching for RPG games whose purpose was to learn a language. At the time, I didn't realize the game relied on AI. I played the game a little bit for Spanish and Portuguese - two languages that I'm high-beginner to low-intermediate in - and found the gameplay enjoyable. The graphics and playing style remind me of old Legend of Zelda games, such as those for NES or Gameboy. Because the graphics and style of play is an older one, I found it a little challenging to get into compared to games that are 3D and employ more modern styles of play. However, as I focused on the language learning aspect, I found myself enjoying things. I'm someone who is a big language learning nerd, and from that perspective, I initially also found the approach a little slow and repetitive. But, then I realized that repetition is a good thing. This game is amazing! It helped me with Spanish so so much. I need more of this game ^_^

I have purchased this game, and I think the idea of combining an RPG with language learning is great. However, the game is actually more aimed at a younger audience, ideally those who are just starting to learn from scratch. I have a B2 level certification, so personally, this game is not for me; but it may still be enjoyable for a different type of player. Judge for yourselves.
