NIGHT STRIKER GEAR

This game was directed by the guy that directed Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga, by the way. So if you love those games this should be an insta-buy. Super fun game regardless. Empty leaderboards for now so it's fun to chase top spots. If you beat every stage at least once (including the secret one), you unlock the true mode of this game - B-Sides Mode. Scoring tips: prioritizing driving on the ground to rack up extra points. Aim for the red guys before anyone else in the group to get extra points. Learn how to wipe-out stages (it's not too hard if you route it out). Learn how to speed kill bosses (staying on them to seal bullets and doing a lot of DPS or going into gear form when you need to dodge them). The game lacks a stage select (this is criminal imo, I hope they update it one day) but otherwise I heavily recommend you buy this.

1CC in both Normal and Pacifist Mode, every steam achievement unlocked and top 10 in the leaderboards. Now M2... Pleaaaase we need more M2 Shot Triggers on PC! <3

The grafix are awful and the music isn't great either. It also seems like there is very little content at first. However, Night Striker Gear is a superb action game that fixes the issues with the original. I believe it technically has fewer stages than the first game, but these stages are far more unique and there are no ♥♥♥♥♥♥ filler stages like the first game. Every stage has at least two (maybe exactly two) boss fights, and bosses are surprisingly awesome despite their overall simplicity. Also, be sure to go for 1CC's. You'll be pleasantly surprised that there's more content than you may have initially thought. This game isn't worth $20 normally, but in these trying times with slim pickens for action games, I am extremely happy with my purchase.

A worthy remake, though some stages are palette swaps, & some bosses recycle assets with small changes. Short but sweet, I hope for more System Z remakes. Aqua Jack next?

I've played this game since release having received it as a gift thanks to a dear friend, and since then I've grown nothing but love turned into pure hate as I went in further and further. To begin, I want to give a bit of a background regarding my experience with this sort of game. Last year, I played the original Night Striker. I had a mixed relationship with the game, but as I got better, I grew to absolutely love its complexities that set it apart from its inspirations at the time. Those complexities coupled with what made the game great in feel all shattered and turned to dust in Gear. One key detail are the graphics. While not *bad*, they're not exactly the way to go for a game of this style. The high neon coloring of the renders mixed with blooming do not help visibility at all. At times, I had moments where the orange bullets (meaning they're initiating contact with the player) are almost invisible with how bright the background and stage presentation can be. The graphics are also a big offense towards the controls.
