About Nightmare Frontier
Welcome to the first Tactical Extraction Looter where you pit your courage and leadership against fears made manifest: the Dreadweavers. Your band of scavengers ventures into American Dream turned American Nightmare of the alternative 1900s, to reclaim a devastated former boom town. For those brave enough to make the best of it, the opportunities are now... supernatural! The next evolution of tactical combat is here: rain lead on enemies by chaining trick shots and overcoming dread. Then get in their midst and rearrange the odds by pushing, countering and combining attacks.
The city will never be the same but you can work with it: lead the counterattack against the Dreadweavers and push ever deeper into the Nightmare. Taking back city quarters will bring you face to face with fresh horrors and into new paths forward.
Cowardice rarely pays the bills but you can’t enjoy your gains when you’re dead. Push your luck and the danger you face while maximizing the loot you can grab and live to fight another day. Limitless raids lure you deeper into the Nightmare and making the most profitable calls is why you, the Ringleader, pay yourself the big bucks!Face off against monsters born from your band’s deepest fears: push the challenge and raise the Nightmare Level for things to get more deadly and more interesting quickly. Learn to game the system of fear and courage to choose your battles.Harvest materials from defeated nightmares to craft and enhance increasingly insane weapons, merging early 1900s technology with supernatural alchemy. Unlock new ways to send the monsters back to the Hells they crawled out of.While you rest your aching guns and reload your muscles, manage your equipment, invest in new abilities or press some rescued fresh meat (heh, heh) into service. Just remember: their weakest points will attract the monsters like blood attracts hungry sharks.

Y'know, I'm not sure if the AI thing was declared back at EA launch, or if I simply wasn't diligent enough in looking into things, but frankly it's a no-go for me. I'd refund if I could. I understand that clarifications have been made on the role and prominence of generative AI in development, and they are insufficient to sway my sentiments. Anything less than complete rejection of Silicon Valley's latest crime against humanity is unacceptable to me.6 found this helpful
I adore tactics as puzzle games, like Rogue Waters and the like, so this scratches my very specific itch. It is not perfect, but it gets a lot of things right. I do wish they'd remove the launcher (ugh!) and improve the performance on the Steam Deck (the loading times really don't need to be that long, guys!) but other than that I really don't have a lot of gripes. The game just sucks you in and suddenly the hours are just... gone!1 found this helpful
Poorly optimized and unbalanced - couldnt progress in the tutorial...
I'm 40 hours in and its been fun. Its a tactical puzzler, with combos, chain attacks and gear progression. The graphics, sound and terrain art is stunning and slick. There is a lot that could be done to make the game better: Bigger more tactical maps where movement and cover mean something - the current small maps mean most monsters can move anywhere on the map and spank you, and vice versa. More granularity in the nightmare progression. Its scales up fast to being deadly in a few turns with monsters jacking it up as well. The buffs the monsters get really amplify and wipe you out like a flipped switch from under control to getting massacred. Farming the materials to progress past China town has me locked for the last ten hours, trying to get a combo of characters with the right fears, building up enough power to survive the required nightmare level, then RNG for the monster appearing, then RNG for it to drop its part, and now I need 20.... I probably am going to dip out the game after no progress for the last ten hours. A few quality of life ideas for the devs: Arrow keys moving the map (not just WASD) Not locking the UI during animations so I can scroll to the next guy wh…
BASED👍
Dozens of small clever ideas add up to a game that's fresh and original, with interesting additions to a familiar genre. Eager to see what comes.
