About O.W.L. - One Wave Length

The Symphonie Forest was once a place of harmony, where melodies flowed with the rivers and every creature moved in sync with the sound of the world. But that harmony has been shattered. The Meowestro, a wicked tyrant, has unleashed waves of dissonance, corrupting the very heart of the forest. The once-peaceful denizens now march to his command, their souls bound by the chaos. Only you - Stryx the Owl and Katt the Cat can withstand against the rising army of foes. Armed with your instruments you must battle through the different seasons of the forest, strike in sync and restore the music to it's people.

Gameplay

OWL is a top down, rogue like bullet-hell where you go through randomized prebuild levels. Only when you are in beat you are able to defeat the enemies, as the enemies follow the same rule. So listen to the Music patterns your enemies make and predict their attacks to reach the final boss, Meowestro.Your trusty shiny seller is able to take the shinies you collect and gives you small stat increases in return.Every bonfire you encounter you unlock powerful new Instruments that will aid you through your journey, increasing your damage and overall stats.

OWL is top down, rogue like bullet-hell that you can play with up to 1 friend. Everything is in beat, including your and the enemies attacks. With each new Instrument, new attack patterns unfold for you which will take you to your final obstacle; The Meowestro, the source of dissonance.

The mechanics are not explained at all. To my understanding, selecting a different instrument as a weapon only slightly adjusts your damage or health, while selecting different "runes" adjust the attack size and range. The game is very repetitive, the rhythm being always the same and the rhythm is also very fast and the timing feels off. Pressing the attack button in rhythm to the timing makes you attack so you don't have to coordinate other things to the rhythm, but the timing feels "pixel perfect" so it's hard to attack even half of the time. In co op the items and gold are shared, so you can't even try to do different builds with the limited 3 purchase option of the shop. Pressing Esc once makes the pause menu pop up, but for some reason you can't close the menu with esc.

10/10 - incredibly fun music-based attack patterns, easy to pick up and very fun to listen to also. Choices the player makes influence the music, which is an added bonus.

Super cool musical-beat, bullet-hell. Highly recommend at least one playthrough, may not work on all devices.
