About Object N
✦ AI summary
Object N is a hardcore retro shooter set in a Cold War Soviet facility where you fight through chaos and mystery using advanced movement mechanics and brutal gore effects. It blends classic Quake-era gameplay with modern graphical enhancements and cooperative multiplayer, all wrapped in atmospheric exploration and environmental puzzles.
«Object N» is a experimental hardcore retro game that tries to achieve aesthetics of old shooters such using modern open source Quake engine fork. In addition to graphical improvements (bump mapping, per-pixel lighting), the new engine adds new mechanics for movement, excessive gore effects, COOP mode and more.
The setting moves us to the Cold War. Step into the boots of a special Soviet engineer, dispatched to the clandestine government facility known only as «Object N». As you arrive, a mysterious disaster has struck, leaving the once-secret underground science center in chaos, now under military occupation. Uncover secret areas, solve puzzles, and confront unknown threats as you ascend from the depths to the surface.

Is it a little rough right now? Yes. However, this is a really fun and simple shooter. Lots of inspiration from Half-Life to be sure. Relatively interesting premise. What is Object N? I don't know, but I sure would like to find out in future updates! The gun play feels relatively nice so far. I love the changes made to the medkits. (Previously, you'd pick them up to get health back, but now you can manually use them which helps a lot with managing your health). The changes to the levels are very nice! Makes everything feel a bit more complete! The lighting changes feel a lot better visually. (Some rooms in previous versions felt either too dark or too bright sometimes) I really like the new UI. I might suggest that the ammo stock and magazine positions be swapped because I think that's more natural with other games. Most of the weapons feel really nice to use. Reloading could feel a little nicer, but I can't really complain too much on that. Kinda wish the shotgun would reload a little faster. I do like that the story is starting to take shape in the earlier levels. (Not much is given in the later levels, but that's okay for now. Would like to see a bit more development there in t…
