About OLAPU

OLAPU is a fast-paced co-op action roguelite in which you and three other of your friends can team up to face escalating waves of enemies and massive raid-style bosses. Each run is a race to power up, survive and prove that you are worthy taking down the strongest entities in the realm.Choose from a wide variety of characters be it melee or ranged, support or pure damage dealer. Each character has their own unique attacks, abilities and ultimates. The more you play them, the more they evolve, unlocking exclusive upgrades that change how they fight and build. As you defeat enemies you collect stars which you can turn in for pieces of constellations. These unlock many things from summons to chain reactions and even a little cat casino! There are many dozens of choices for each run, no two feel the same.Bosses are designed like raids in MMORPGs. Multi-phase, movement heavy and merciless. You will need to learn patterns, mechanics and adapt on the fly in order to defeat them. These fights will demand the focus of you and your party!Between runs you'll unlock new characters for your roster as well as evolutions for them, unlock permanent skills that improve you in various ways, unbox legendary gear with semi-random stats, buffs for runs in the form of food and many cosmetics for you and your characters.

Shocked this game doesn't have more reviews because it is the exact type of "survivors-like" I enjoy. Much like 20 Minutes Till Dawn there are multiple actives to click, aiming, and actual gameplay. While they were original and fun to start, I now hate ones where all you are doing is WALKING in a direction. There is also a surprising amount of depth here with lots of characters to unlock, talent trees, gear choices, unique boss drops, and cosmetics too. It is SUPER grindy which I happen to like, but that may not be for everyone. Also it is very pretty and girly which I like. :) Outside of wanting proper key bindings and a dash that comes standard (without having to put in as your ultimate slot)... no complaints. Nice job to the two person team, will bring it up on my podcast at some point!

A solid entry into the survivor-like genre, mixed with boss fights reminiscent of FFXIV raiding and Rabbit and Steel. The character sprites are wicked cute and well done and I had a fun time playing the different characters, which all felt unique. There's something special about finding an overpowered build and wiping the whole screen with it. You can find that here especially with the RPG-like gear system, giving stat increases and set bonuses. The game does need some polish here and there as I personally would love to see an effects option for your spells such as opacity because when you are hitting spark on everything on the map, it is very difficult to see a random projectile from an enemy coming at you. Overall, I am eager to see what is in store on full release for OLAPU.

Current favorite survivors like game. Introducing some mechanics from rabbit and steal makes the moment to moment gameplay much more engaging than the typical survivors stand still and let your weapons kill everything gameplay. The upgrades you get have interesting synergies between them which makes crafting a different build each run interesting and rewarding, rather than the best upgrade choice being obvious each time.

Like look, the game has some large character-balance issues (though they're getting a little smaller as we play more). But I played it with a friend for a few hours, and we had fun. The boss fights give heavy 'Rabbit x Steel' vibes, which is great. Plus, the developer seems like a cool dude; he helped me through it on Discord when I was trying to reset my save file. It's easy to forget that games like these are made by real people; you know it's someone, sure, but you forget that they have thoughts and feelings/emotions too.

A little rough around the edges (completely expected considering its EA status), but incredibly fun and addicting. Excited to see future developments.
