Ive loved this game since I was a kid, i cry everytime i beat it though
This game feels like babies first metroidvania. I think the game falls on the very simple side but what it does do is general just very good. The map and most of the environment was well designed do that it was easy to move around without getting lost. The move sets changes the gameplay in notice ways. The bad things would be the combat is general very boring with only having to jump or stand to the side and slow chip down health. Also most of the escape scenarios all had one part where I got stuck not know where to go which lead to a lot of frustration.
What is this game?
Ori and the Blind Forest is a precision platformer with metroidvania aspects. The game follows a little light spirit called Ori - who has to go through various rigorous tasks to bring back the light to the spirit tree. All of this whilst being hunted by the evil bird "Kuro".
Price/replay value
Horrible - Bad - Decent - Good - Amazing
Achievement hunting
Various smaller achievements related to combat, platforming, collectibles... Generally not the worst as the game gives you all the tools to clean them up easily. The remainder however... There is an achievement for doing the game deathless (I'd call myself good at this genre and still died 200 times), one for not using the skill tree (self explanatory pain), one for beating hard mode (almost everything will 1-2 shot Ori), and one for beating the game in 3 hrs. - Not for the faint of heart.
Pros/cons
Pros

Beautiful aesthetics and music
Very smooth platforming with tons of routing options
Solid underlying story
Cons

Near the end the game spams instakill lasers, lava, and traps
A lot of unskippable…
it good
