Out There: Oceans of Time

Hi everyone, I am writing this after having finished the game using the red story line , I am planning to do the other ones at a later date. But at first before buying any game I check many negative comments to see if there is a pattern but here these are unfounded, in my mind there is no valid negative side to this game aside of preferences. The so called saving issue is nonsense as in the game you need to fly your ship to a saving satellite and save the game there and with that you will not have issues. I quit the game many times after saving and had no issues continuing later. For the gameplay , I can say that I own the first game "Out There: Ω" and this new version is much better in many regards. Both are Indie games and well suited for weak and older computers like many indie games. Oceans of Time has a bit more 3D as the first game "Out There: Ω" but is mostly 2D. The big difference and advantage is that this version is much better balanced , meaning if you manage properly you can survive , the 1st game "Out There: Ω" was more difficult and any random event could kill you , here in Oceans of time it's not so random. [i]*Sigh*[/i] alright, I'm giving it a thumbs up to counteract the previous reviews. In a nutshell, this game's trailer is far more charismatic than it has any right to be, and sets the bar for excitement waaay too high for what it really is. Still, it's a fine "play-though-it-once-in-10-to-15-hours" experience for players who have some patience and who want to grind through some solitude. (The remainder of my playtime is me being silly about achievements -- I do not recommend doing that.) I don't often do pros and cons, but, Cons: (-1) A great deal of gameplay is formulaic, repetitive, and grindy. (-2) The visual/art design generally lacks cohesion. (-3) The interface was initially built for straight-up [u][i]mouse[/i][/u]. Even hotkeys were an afterthought. (-4) The forced-march in-game tutorial kind of sucks. (-5) The storytelling is incredibly fragmented, and I could not bring myself to care much about the different endings or about any single character in this world. Big story beats unfold on the scale of hours. Minute-by-minute gameplay invokes your resources and systems, but almost never your characters. Not for me.

A hidden gem. Everything you would want in a sequel. Less rogue-like and more exploration but that is good. The dialog is a little campy and less well-written than the first. However, it's fun going around and exploring the universe. Scratches an itch for a space exploration game without all the overhead of NMS or something similar. A nice casual exploration sim.

I don't understand why the ratings are so low, it's like this game gets more hate than me, anyway I played the latest version the redshift update. Yes, it has an inventory bug that autoselects what's under the mouse. Other than that, the game is playable, tested both on my PC and deck, all good. First one was somewhat better, this is OK...Baby ooohhhhh

[h1] A load a sec [/h1] Honestly the amount of loads (load screens) you have to endure you would think you were Bonnie Blue. just saps any fun from the game. load, after load, after load. It is quite tedious and really not needed. old, dated and it shows. a shame I hoped for some nostalgia of space games of old, instead I just had disappointment.
