Two different modes in one game? Yes Please! Now there's one thing i love about this game. Ever thought what would happen if you let your intrusive thoughts win in the virtual novel? Well the options are there! there's 24 different endings and your choices do matter! (I'm so glad its not choose between 3 different colors lol) So many ways to die and some ways to live! Attention to details is important and each choice helps inform the story through different lenses. And that's only half the game! There's also an addictive bonus mode Called Outbreak: RPG where you try to find survivors and escape the city in a turn based mode. It also has a little timing mini-game that adds an extra layer to the combat. It can be a bit goofy but its all part of the charm. This series has been branching out genre's in recent years and this game, as the others, does not disappoint!

This is new territory for DDS studios... It's a visual novel... and a 2D Roguelite RPG in one. So there are 2 games in one package. I have played a little of both. The visual novel seems to be well-written, and the story is engaging so far. I am working my way through getting the 24 multiple endings of the game. I have heard that it is the first of 3 Visual Novel titles. This one is a prequel to the upcoming Shades of Horror game. Players should be warned that there are some timed sequences in the game, which surprised me the first time I encountered them. The music slaps in this portion of the package. The RPG portion features characters from the original Outbreak series (Shades of Horror is a reboot). I haven't played much of the RPG mode yet, but I like the turn-based combat so far. The atmosphere is appropriate. However, some of the options for choices can come off as a little silly (tongue-in-cheek). There are some cool extras like a scene builder and unlockable jukebox featuring current and past music from the Outbreak series. Edit: I suggest including voice acting in the sequels if the budget is there.

I don't usually play visual novels, but I had to pick this up. So much fun! It is like a choose your own adventure. The addition of an RPG is an added bonus. Time to go back to the game to unlock all the endings.

This is a bit of a bite sized experience, but it's fun and leaves you wanting for more. I'd recommend it for fans of the Outbreak series who want to know more about the setting leading up to the titular outbreak.

I got 3 out of 24 endings in the first hour and I want to come back for me. I was surprised how quickly my choices diverged the story. A fun addition to the Outbreak series.
