A beautifully crafted, pixel-art RPG with engaging storytelling, deep gameplay, and charming characters that create a memorable, atmospheric experience.

I really wish I could recommend this game, but it's too rough around the edges for me to do so. I love the presentation, and it does scratch that classic first-person dungeon crawler itch, but there are so many better options out there at this point. There are a lot of minor bugs that, while nothing more than annoyances, add up. I had to make sure to save quite often when going back to the main town, as there were plenty of instances where the menu never appeared which forced me to quit out of the game and reload. This happened often enough that it became a bit frustrating to have to deal with. Thankfully I didn't lose much progress due to this, but if you weren't saving often enough you could lose hours of progress. Also, there are around seven achievements that are bugged. This isn't as big a deal for me, but if you're someone who enjoys hunting achievements, you'll never be able to unlock all of them here. I know the game is over twelve years old at this point which could be the cause of some of the odd bugs I encountered, but it's just not worth buying with the state it's in even at the low price point. Plainly speaking, this game is just not good. I was lured in by the interesting art style, but besides that, there is nothing else going on here. If your game is about combat only, make sure the combat is entertaining - instead, the combat here is basic, slow and tedious. The cherry on top is that you cannot quickly restart it or load the game. Have I mentioned there are no shortcuts for the combat ? Ugh! Bottom line, there are plenty of other, much better dungeon crawlers than this one, do yourself a favour and play them instead.

Man, I really wanted to like this game. I did for the first half of the game. But it's got some serious issues with bugs and balancing that get obnoxious in the endgame. [h3]The Good[/h3] [list] [*]The artstyle is interesting and unique. Everything is black and white and flat, giving the impression of pen and paper drawings [*]Classic 4-man party. It's funny when 2 enemy clerics buff on the same turn (only works once), less funny when 3/4 of the party is killed turn 1 by overpowered endgame minions. [*]Most puzzles only have the illusion of creative choice, and you are punished for getting it wrong. Try the wrong key? Key's mangled, hope you didn't need it.
