RUS / ENG

Wolves howl 'Auu', dudes go 'Auf'
Paws and Soul is a walking simulator where, at first glance, you play as a nameless wolf exploring magical forests and sometimes surreal locations. You'll be piecing together the story of how the wolf ended up here and why he sees people as holograms – spirits that appear along the way. The game has a fantastic atmosphere and stylish visuals. Even though some textures may remind you of Unity, the use of Unreal Engine makes everything easy on the eyes. The story isn't a masterpiece, but it's well-told and explores themes of growing up and trying to figure out your life. The main gameplay is all about slowly moving forward, listening to the main character's story, and collecting orange spheres needed to activate altars and progress. You can also poke around hidden corners to find side secrets. It's easy to see why the game has only 53% positive reviews: • Length: The story's pretty short. Even taking your time, you can finish it in about two hours. In the end, it probably won't surprise you or hit you with intense emotions. • Lack of guidance: Side quests can be confusing. It's not always obvious how to fi…

Paws and Soul is a quiet, introspective adventure developed and published by ELECTROSTALIN ENTERTAINMENT that places atmosphere and symbolism above traditional gameplay structure. Rather than presenting clear objectives or mechanical challenges, the game invites players into a meditative journey through nature, memory, and spiritual continuity, asking them to inhabit the role of a wolf spirit wandering a vast forest shaped as much by emotion as by geography. From the outset, it signals that this is an experience meant to be felt and contemplated rather than conquered. The game unfolds at a deliberately unhurried pace, encouraging free exploration across interconnected natural environments filled with forests, caves, cliffs, and hidden clearings. As the wolf, movement is the primary interaction: running across hills, leaping gaps, and navigating uneven terrain while collecting glowing spirit orbs scattered throughout the world. These orbs function as a soft progression system, unlocking narrative elements and optional story branches rather than new abilities or mechanical power. There is no combat, no traditional failure state, and little in the way of pressure, reinforcing the ide…

I was really hoping I’d like this game, but right away it felt like I was playing Lost Ember. That didn’t immediately put me off, because I’m actually a big fan of Lost Ember, but unfortunately this game ended up disappointing me. It was cute, and I did like the wolf, but the story just didn’t work for me. Both John and David were really unlikable, and I never felt connected to them. The story also didn’t have much depth. The pacing was all over the place, and by the end, it felt like the game was trying way too hard to make everything emotional. Instead of feeling sad or invested, I honestly just ended up running past the memories. I also still have no idea who Michelle really is or what her story was supposed to be, which made it even harder to care about what was happening. The game does look beautiful though! Visually, it has some really nice moments. But gameplay-wise, I found it pretty boring and buggy, especially with the jumping and turning. I also wish there had been more collectibles, but from what I’ve seen in other reviews, the collectibles that are currently in the game are apparently broken, so I definitely won’t be doing a second run. I’d give it around a 4/10.

Originally bought it on sale. IF you are an Achievement Hunter, do NOT buy this game. I'll explain why further down. And as much as it pains me to give a negative review... Sadly this game hasn't been worth more than I had paid for it. The story is very see through and flat. Sometimes dialogues are so over-the-top, that you start questioning whether they were meant in a serious way. In the beginning the side-storyline of "Michelle" is introduced, which is (according to our wolf) connected to the "David" Storyline. In the end, they are just two different stories that you can follow / watch unfold and that's it. Given the revelation in the end there is no logical sense of "why" Michelle is even in the game. The controls are okay, nothing more. If you need to be fast or turn around quickly, you'll have a problem, because turning this wolf around will take (exaggeratedly said) 2-3 business days, before you can jump again. And good luck not falling off of the platform you're standing on as you're turning around. The visual design I loved in the beginning, because the orbs you collect were easy to see and everything was nice on the eyes and not straining. I don't know which demon poss…
