About Planet Colonization
In the distant space there is a habitable exoplanet. The planet has solid ground, water and natural resources. The game begins on this new world with initial settlement under your control.
Planet Colonization combines management with real time strategy. The game focuses on the functioning of the society, financial management and defending your colony against the other colonies. As the ruler of the colony you decide which way the things go. Things that need to be controlled are production and trade, society and tax model, employment of the colonists, harvesting of the natural resources and relations to the other colonies. The fertile planet has attracted other settlers too and they don’t like that you are there exploiting the natural resources and occupying the ground.
The society model covers the whole life cycle of a colonist. Young colonists can go to school (if you have one available) and then to college. As the colonists get older they then start working and establishing businesses and earning what they need for living. If there are no jobs available and they have no cash, they will move away unless you provide them with appropriate benefit.
The practical skills and knowledge of the workers and managers affects to how efficiently the work is done. If you have skilled workforce in a factory, for example, it will produce more than a factory with less skilled workforce. If you like, you can allow your colonists to become private business owners. They will send you building requests and you then decide, which private businesses are allowed.
To build and operate defense systems and to construct accommodation, schools and hospitals, you can build profitable public production and collect taxes. The tax model can be chosen from multiple choices between flat tax percentage to a progressive tax model.
Many kind of natural resources can be found from the planet. Carbon-based life that has existed there for hundreds of millions of years has also created fertile grounds for agriculture and forestry and deposits of oil can be found from below the surface. However, the explorers will occasionally bump into alien lifeforms that live on the planet and they can be troublesome sometimes.
If the colonists can’t find or produce the necessary items they need, they are bought from the Planetary Exchange. Funding for the purchases is also available from the Planetary Bank system as long as the colony doesn’t exceed its credit limit.
The distribution of natural resources on a planet is not always fair. Some colonies also like to occupy more land area than they need, so it seems. This leads to conflicts of interests between the colonies, so prepare for confrontations!
Information / Review English
Planet Colonization combines the Game styles of Strategy and Real-time Strategy game, which was developed by Araknumia Software. And is still in the Early Access Phase. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2314299795
Gameplay / Story
It all started in a galaxy far, far away ... A planet full of natural nutrients that you need to survive, a dream that is too good to be true, but really there. You are lucky enough to have found this planet and you are the focus. This is how the game begins! You are the ruler of this colony and you can decide how the course of your story unfolds and things will turn with your decisions either for or against you. Your job is to drive production and trade, to take care of society and the tax model, but your colonists also want to be employed and have to want to get their bars on. The harvest of natural resources and relationships with the other colonies should also be managed and maintained. Of course, the planet does not remain undiscovered by other colonists and soon a fight for every single resource begins, because these will become scarce over time. This is a tough one to rate. I thought I was buying a builder. Instead it is a unique take on Real Time Strategy in which prices from the independent market are the key drivers in determining how you build a functioning economy to support the war machine to take down your rivals. The approach is creative and unique. You have to focus on staying profitable. Whatever resources you need you can buy in the market. However, to buy in the market you need positive cash flow or sufficient assets to access credit. You'll bankrupt yourself quickly if you ignore the price signals from the market to focus on building the production chains you need. Positive cash flow comes from cleverly building things that are in short supply and otherwise manipulating the market. Building whatever is in short supply, and thus expensive, either lets you supply your own economy at below market prices, giving you an advantage, or selling into the economy at high prices, giving you more money which you then use to further develop your economy. You can also directly play the market, buying low and selling high or investing in short supply production hoping to profit. Done right, this will also generate cash …10 found this helpful
Game looks nothing like the preview. There is no tutorial and I couldn't build any units. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone.7 found this helpful
