Those pixels aren't just for looks! Pocket Aquarium is an authentic Game Boy Color game that was created using GBStudio. The Steam version of Pocket Aquarium is packaged with GodotBoy. For players, that means authentic retro gameplay accompanied by an authentic retro soundtrack. This game is incredibly charming! I’ve been playing for a while now, and it reminds me of Tamagotchi and Cave Game (DS). I’ve really enjoyed caring for my fish, collecting new ones, and learning fun facts about each species I own. I do have a couple of small notes. While I appreciate the overall style, the Game Boy aesthetic isn’t the only visual direction, and I personally think the game would benefit from one consistent art style throughout. Additionally, I understand the game has just launched, but it does feel a bit bare-bones at the moment. Continued updates and added content would definitely keep me coming back. I've really enjoyed this game so far! I love the retro feel to it, it reminds me of the old Game Boy days. I like the concept of playing with the fish through mini-games, though one or two of those mini-games run a little long. All in all it's a satisfying gameplay loop that touches on management games and retro games.1 found this helpful
Cute pet sim with a fun retro GBC vibe. It's exactly the kind of game I'd love to play as a kid.
