Most of all, confront the unknown to reveal the true, vast nature of choice and consequence in a rich, hard sci-fi inspired storyline.
Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can view my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/nS9Wbsi0IjI I haven't yet come across a battle in about 2 hours of gameplay so I can't honestly score it. However, I can say that I can recommend it to space nerds / geeks who don't mind a budget-priced space exploration / survival game by a solo dev that won't have the production values of a No Man's Sky or From Other Suns and that has a lot of text reading. I also don't know what planetary dangers you can ran into, other than maybe high / low temperatures and maybe radiation or other environmental dangers. So far I've been mostly visiting other planets and mining them for resources. Then using the money earned to upgrade my crew & ship (plus fuel for the next adventure). Again, there's a lot of text reading. The UI is a bit clunky & gets some getting used to. You have to setup your crew & ship first. Then you can go exploring. Once you're in a planet, you do have full locomotion and snap turning available. You also have a jetpack. However, movement does feel sluggish. And you have an extractor, but I don't think you ever gain weapons. Materials are like automatically…9 found this helpful
(DISCLAIMER: I WAS A PLAY TESTER) - I had a lot of fun play testing this. - It's an open world.. BUT, there's clear objectives and a tight(er) plot to follow. - It took ten hours average to complete the main quest for me. - Everything ran smoothly by the last go around. - Lots of dialog. It's easy to read. Try not to skip it all, weird hard sci-fi storyline. - Check the tutorial videos if you get confused! They're short. - Not a lot of games out there for VR like this one. Been following the development of this game for YEARS it's great to see it finally done! I've been waiting to write this review!7 found this helpful
A friend of a friend told me this is like Starflight in VR?! Ok, I was inspired to review it because of THAT. I can sit and play, but during combat I stood (you can practice the combat)! I love Starflight (I'm old) and I have VR so I figured it out. So far there is a lot to do compared to other VR games I've tried with my Quest. I found myself playing for 4 hours. I had goosebump memories of Starflight and I grinned from ear to ear. Story, combat and inspired by an old legend. I'm eager to try more. This is on a forgotten wavelength. Bravo.6 found this helpful
I have the most fondest memories of playing Starflight I and II on my Commodore 64 when I was a teenager. I loved keeping a real logbook of my journeys and writing down useful data that I came across while exploring systems and planets. Project Coreward is pure joy to play. It brings back so much nostalgia but in a completely new form to be explored in VR.5 found this helpful
I had to watch 10 minutes of tutorial videos in the game's menu, because the developer was lazy enough not to make a tutorial trainin level that includes the basics of this game. I am here to enjoy games, not to study for an exam. Plus the grafics are worse than those from half life 1.2 found this helpful
