Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin

Too much praise for what's essentially just an okay game. It's simultaneously both very short and very drawn-out. You can beat game in under 2 hours, but at least one 1 of those 2 hours you'd spend waiting for the next teleportation point to arrive at it's destination. I mean, don't get me wrong, the big location where you spend most of your gameplay time jumping between fishes is rather beautiful, but not 2-3 minutes per fish repeat x20 times beautiful. The only good moment is at the end where you teleport into a whale which changes scene scale. Frankly if you value your time, you'd be better off by using 100% complete save file to jump over most of this tedious trench fish teleportation stuff. The technical part is really outdated, you'll most likely need a meta app installed despite game running in steam OVR mode. The game expects you to have vive wands. Remapping touchpad presses to extra buttons of modern controllers isn't a problem, but telekinesis worked weird for me. After picking object up I could only move it slightly along my view axis. SUPRISINGLY GREAT! I was expecting more of coaster ride or a slightly interactable linear thing. But it was much more. It was a proper game! Two hours of VR syorytelling and atmosphere oozing the Psychonauts vibes. Art style looks very good in VR, interactions are simple but it never feels like it is a hinderence. All the mechanics fit exactly to what the setting/reasoning for it justifies and nothing feels like tacked on. Extremely nice little game that is a complete package and fits nicely between Psychonauts 1 and 2. Very worth the full price I paid as it is very polished, looks good, sounds good, story and writing is obviously great and is nice to play I wish it was longer as it was so enjoyable, but what it is, is very well paced and very "rich" experience. I would gladly pay more for a longer, as polished and well paced game like this. TECHNICAL ISSUES: Steam Link crashes the game on launch with PICO 4. Using Virtual Desktop caused no issues.

Very charming! Pretty simple and straightforward VR Experience that is still a lot fun. There's a couple moments that have that "VR Magic" that makes games like this special. The only minor gripe is that there's a tad too much "navigation" in large open areas. Where for a long time you're just hopping from one place to the next with nothing really going on. Felt a little meaningless at times.

Amazing game. It brought insane clarity to my understanding of the plot of 2. The atmosphere is incredible, and the story? Top. Notch.

VR controllers are not supported

It's endearing and clever as usual, the same quality of the other Psychonauts, now in with hazardous conditions (my room). A bit too simple, but I guess that's expected considering it's a fairly old VR game.
