What Steam players say

Players praise Punihi Loader 2's engaging core gameplay and solid mech customization system that rewards experimentation, along with useful AI teammates and a charming aesthetic that belies surprising tactical depth. Common complaints center around the user interface needing polish, balance issues where certain items become obviously superior choices, and the overall game being fairly straightforward rather than deeply complex. Despite these limitations, players consistently appreciate it as a well-executed mecha builder and brawler that delivers exactly what it promises.
Core Gameplay is very fun. UI/UX need to be polished, but overall definitely a fun experience.
PUNIHI LOADER 2 by 221GAMES is a distinctive blend of third-person shooting, mech customization, and light tactical gameplay that manages to feel both approachable and system-driven at the same time. At first glance, its presentation might suggest something casual or even purely comedic, with its small, cute Punihi pilot and colorful aesthetic. However, once you begin engaging with its systems, it becomes clear that the game is built around experimentation, optimization, and repeated combat encounters that reward players who are willing to invest time into refining their approach. The core gameplay revolves around piloting a customizable mech in fast-paced battles against AI-controlled enemies. Movement and shooting are straightforward, making the game easy to pick up, but success depends heavily on how well you manage positioning and adapt to enemy behavior. You are not alone in combat, as two AI teammates accompany you into battle, creating a small squad dynamic that adds another layer of strategy. While you do not directly control your allies, their presence influences how encounters play out, encouraging you to think about team composition and how different builds complement o…
Solid straightforward mech builder and brawler. Your teammates are useful and not annoying. Lots of customisation, though there's often an 'obviously' best item in each class that makes the others somewhat obsolete. Arena battles are always 3v3, missions are a bit more varied with waves of weaker drone enemies and occasional giant bosses. Not the deepest game but very good at what it does.
Great little game for mecha fans. Five pieces of customization for the loaders (body, left arm, right arm, legs, backpack) + tactics for your pair of companions. You can re-paint your loaders and Punihis (the little round guys piloting the mecha). They actually work surprisingly well for making a compact design, compared to something requiring a man-sized cockpit. The gameplay is fairly straightforward. Mission mode sees you taking on a variety of drones, with the occasional giant boss (Bastards) and later, enemy loaders. Missions unlock via the Arena, where you face other teams of three loaders; both have three "ranks" of difficulty, with reaching a new plateau in Arena unlocking the complimentary rank of Mission. For the most part, new parts become available via participating in particular Arena venues sponsored by different companies. I'll two other reviewers, the game really does feel like something you might have played in sixth gen, back when we saw more experimental, lower budget offerings. And although you might find yourself going back to certain weapons, there's no "one size fits all" loadout. Some work against both drones and loaders, some are better suited to one or t…
In Unity we mix and match

and strike but thats not as important
Punihi Loader 2 is not a looker or an overly ambitious game but a variety Mech game so this warrants not a look but two. Its a fairly basic Third Person Shooter. You have a forward only dash. Maybe an active back ability. Weapons are straightforward and weirdly grouped due to their simplicty. There is This : Gun...Machine Guns, Nailguns, Flamethrower? and then a Gun with Aoe...Cannons, Unguided Rockets, a Building Stapling-Machine?! Also missiles which do need Lock on. Meele weapons, varying a lot in their handyness. Reloading is passive and can be interrupted at any time. You will pick this up no problem. You and your marshmellow companions...? Meat buns? There are humans in this world too so... [strike]what ARE those and what are the lore implications of them? [/strike] This is a team game in which you not only command your own vehicle in need of description but also an enitre team of vehicles in need of description to turn your opponents into the indescripable. By default they will follow you like a pair of bodyguards probably inspired by shmups past. But you can give the…
