Railroads & Catacombs

Very good little darkest dungeon like and a huge achievement for just one dev. Kudos to whoever designed this game.

The problem with this game is how generic and grindy it is. It is like darkest dungeon, only with less flavor and close to zero fluff. It isn't bad, but at the current price I do not recommend it. If you liked darkest dungeon and other roguelite-flavored card games where death for individual characters is permanent, then maybe this will scratch that itch to some degree, but don't expect the bells and whistles. Not a bad game, but definitely not worth current price.

I thought about whether I should recommend this game or not. In the end, I imagined myself having a conversation with one of my best friends and if he asked me what to play, I wouldn't bring this game up. Honestly this game is more of 6/10. There's some good but then there's some bad. When you choose someone to run the gauntlet, it could be a useful character that is able to do other things like heal another character back up or have a higher and better chance at getting an upgrade to your train. This is good and bad because if you have a bad run (Every run has small chance of the chraracter dying and not coming back) then you'll lose out on his specialties as well. Game is too easy but then you hit this huge wall of a boss where he gives himself 200 shields and suddenly everybody you send against him starts to die (and he's just a level 1 boss!) Of course then you realize you have to build a certain character and give him upgrades to destroy shield numbers. This does mean that you either have to have prior knowledge of this fight or you need to go back to the other dungeons and re-level another character just so you can beat him.
