Railway Islands is a mild puzzle game where you need to discover a proper algorithm to route the train from A to B via all the checkpoints. This will demand some logical thinking and the ability to learn the ropes on your own. Besides, it's a great way to return to your childhood and build more interesting railroad journeys, thanks to the included workshop island creation feature. The price is adequate, so I see only three reasons why you might not like this game. First, if you don't like indie and/or logic games. Second, if you hate railroads or are completely indifferent to that marvel of human engineering. And the third reason, a luxurious one: if you're a railroad fan with the golden spoon, playing your cherished Train Simulator Classic with all DLCs attached. In that case, though, I doubt you'll ever be looking at my review for Railway Islands. Even though both are on the Steam platform, they're still from very different universes. Since I love well-advertised and nicely done indie titles, I'm gonna mark this game with 10 successfully finished detours out of 10.4 found this helpful
The controls make no sense to me and are not very intuitive to use. There are many bugs which should not be in a complete game, including; the last car on the train having a seizure on x2 speed and the level randomly being reset (rare but annoying). It also feels boring, after about 10 minutes i did want to move on to a new game (i just started spamming random pieces hpoing something would work out). It feels like a low quality phone game rather than a polished steam game. The dev team are targeting the wrong target in my opinion. Or this game should be free and have a few dlc's for extra levels as i understand there a business who needs to make money.1 found this helpful
A great puzzler! The puzzles aren't insane or stressful but still present a good challenge and a kind of relaxing experience. I'd definitely recommed it.
railway islands 100% done. it is such a relaxing and clever little puzzle game. the mechanics are super satisfying but since level 18 i had to check tutorials. some levels are just pain and ill praise anyone who does this without a tutorial. creating and playing community levels is really nice idea too. it is a perfect game if you just want to chill out for a bit while still keeping your brain busy. definitely worth picking up.
A simple puzzle game about trains going through stations to deliver items across various islands just because you can. It's pretty chill and enjoyable with the presentation being nice to look at. The workshop options really bring out ideas and is a nice touch with what you can create. It gets tougher on the later levels, but the low price and calm vibes make it a decent experience for puzzle fans.
Worth the money. Starts strong, but gets frustrating later on -I think it just reaches my brain's limits! Game mechanics could be explained better, discovering critical things through trial and error is not ideal. But overall, fun up until that point and good value.
