REAL WEB LEGENDS: Carter's Quest

REAL WEB LEGENDS: Carter's Quest dares to ask the question: What if The Legend of Zelda was SEXY? It dares to ask many questions in fact, philosophical or otherwise, but that one's the most important. Jokes aside, after finishing Act 2, I can confidently say this is a one of a kind gaming experience! It's janky as hell, sure, sometimes even feeling like it's barely being held together by sticks and glue, but the amount of character and charm in each animated cutscene, bizarre set piece, and little freak you meet on the way more than makes up for it! The worldbuilding is very creative, the combat feels fun and offers many different weapons and combos to unlock, and the story is full of unexpected twists and interesting themes. The exploration and puzzles are a bit eh, but I still feel like the game is worth buying just for the story and combat alone. Definitely a game for all the freaks and weirdos out there!

I've been following the development on twitter for a while. Heard about Chapter 2 and decided to give it a try. A heartwarming surprise. Eager to play it more on the weekend.

A bit into ACT 1 so far and having a blast. There are bugs and technical issues, but I'm thoroughly enjoying the combat, exploration and writing. It's silly and fun so far with the story hinting at some deeper themes than what's initially presented. I love the aesthetics, the animation work, and it's all around a great time so far. Edit: Having completed the main story and some of the side-content, I highly recommend this game. Incredibly ambitious, a lot of fun, and with a fairly cheap asking price. $10 for what will be 6 to 7 hours, plus how ever many I'll inevitably put in to combo-labbing with the surprisingly option-heavy combat. There are glitches, which is expected of a solo-dev EA game, and I encountered a few soft-locks. However the AutoSave is usually pretty good so any major issues I could solve by exiting to main menu or closing the game and hitting continue. If you're even remotely interested in this game, I suggest you buy it now and support the developer so they can finish the project.

Well I certainly have my gripes with the game but ultimately the jank, bugs and combat didn't prevent me from enjoying the story and art. I'm looking forward to act 3, if only to see more of everybody's favourite centenarian butterfly goth.
