Robo's World: The Zarnok Fortress

I just cannot recommend this game. 1) You can only shoot horizontally while your enemies can shoot at any angle they want. 2) The support robots are just annoying and not fun to fight. Depending on the environment you can get in a battle of attrition that you will lose, especially if there are two that revive each other with the drones blocking your shots. Yes I know one of the sabotages disable drones but that doesn't excuse it. 3) Enemies can have shields like you do that are on top of their normal health and only take one shield damage at a time. You can dash punch to destroy it all but you take contact damage so punching was practically suicide. Oh, and those shield/health drops? Enemies can take them. 4) Some of the level design just appears to force you to take damage. In fact one of the keys for the digital environment appears to force you to take a death since it is behind tiles that turn deadly after you move off of them so unless they turn back to normal after time you have to take a death. 5) Speaking of the digital environment it appeared to be pointless. Yes you can lower the AI level but you would have to grind to fight the increase even on normal difficulty. I tried …

I enjoy these types of retro platformer games. As you progress more into the ship, that is when the game gets even more better!

The game has good ideas but as far as gameplay I lost interest very fast. The different zones are all the same just with different colors. Everything sort of blends together so sometimes it's hard to tell what is platform and what is just background. The game is difficult which is nice but I didn't feel any kind of accomplishment or statisfaction when I finally completed a difficult area. maybe it's just not the game for me

Robo's World: The Zarnok Fortress is a genuinely fun action platformer that nails the fundamentals — tight controls, satisfying combat, and a clever sabotage system that lets you strategically disable parts of the fortress to open up new paths. The AI accumulation mechanic keeps things tense as enemies become more threatening over time, and the interconnected map does a great job making the ship feel like a real living world. It can get frustrating dying and restarting a room from scratch, and the keyboard controls need some tweaking to feel comfortable, but with a controller it plays smoothly. If you're a fan of Mega Man-style platformers with a metroidvania twist, this one is absolutely worth picking up.

Robo's World: The Zarnok Fortress is yet another low quality retro pixel platformer infesting Steam. In this one, you play a robot or something, but it's hard to tell because the controls don't work properly. I couldn't even use the menu to see if I could get fullscreen going. Could it be because I had a HOTAS plugged in and it assumed it was a gamepad? Irrelevant, because that kind of laziness from the developers isn't acceptable. If you can't get the basics right, you don't get a thumbs up in your reviews.

I was confused and appalled 70% of the time whilst playing this game. 15% of the time I was excited when I learned that I could bombie on top of everything, and the other 15% of the time I was angry because I had to cop the tip(s).
