I tried to like this game, cute robot and graphics, exploration, solo developer. I played to the third boss (Blazer) and had to drop it. The metroidvania aspect is unfortunately the least important one, as this here is a quick reaction bullet hell platformer, where the protagonist needs to jump, dodge, aim and shoot plus activate different abilities in small arenas with -for me- sluggish controls and very quick bosses/projectiles. The three bosses I experienced were bullet sponges even on normal and I had to repeat these hectic boss arenas so many times, all fun was drained out of the experience. It did not help that the boss music in all cases was so aggravating I wanted to scream. You cannot change difficulty mid game, and after 4 hours, I did not care to restart on easy. While I applaud different difficulties and accessibility options, it is baffling you may not change difficulty mid game. Add to this a very unhelpful and unprecise map, an outright misleading quest marker showing you to go to the swamps when in reality you really need to pick up a flame power up in the scrapyard and the annoying feature that upon death, your progress is reset to the last savepoint, and I didn…3 found this helpful
Love this game! Smoothest controls on any game I've played in a very long time!!!
Interesting little thing. I appreciate sticking to the Metroid ethos of having character upgrades build upon each other combined with the Zelda 2 style leveling system, the moment-to-moment gameplay was pretty fun (the target attacks build up by dealing damage are an especially nice touch), and I rather liked the story (people who know what a KOLM is may see some similarity, but it takes a different direction) and the comic book cutscenes that presented it. I'd throw it on the pile of MV recommendations for sure.
Excellent game. Very fun to play, easy to sink hours into the game. Good exploration and great overall gameplay. I’ve been having a lot of fun playing this on my Steam Deck and Odin 3.
Very good metroidvania
Unity stutter. I'm going to talk with the dev and try to get this fixed. Edit: He can't, the mistakes made causing this are too deep and central to the core of the game. Do not buy this if you have a screen with a refresh rate lower than 120Hz.
