Roll of Fate

I had a lot of fun with this game. I was surprised at how much attention this game captured from me. Trying to listen where my opponent is, planning how to get around him, trying to remember my path and what I thought was the way forward. I was activating all brain cells to try and beat this guy. After beating the game, you unlock various toggle-able modifiers that will change your playthrough. I have not beat the game with the modifiers in play, but I can say they do add quite the challenge. I'd recommend giving this game a chance! it far surpassed my expectations.

Overall a short, simple, but fun experience, which is what I care for in alot of games. Additionally, the modifiers help with some replayability. I would've like to see some more detail on the design of the facility/board that we and the maniac are playing on, but for five dollars, I had a good time. That said, there is a bug with the "resets everyone's position" card that softlocks your game. The player is transported to the void, but is still allowed to move two spaces. Once that turn concludes, you are stuck on the enemies turn which he doesn't take, forcing you to quit the game. I personally think the card is unnecessary anyway, considering we have the cards that can teleport the enemy and yourself, so removing it won't have too much of an impact on the overall game.

This game is a fun challenge with a creepy ambience. I recommend it to anyone looking for something quick to pick up and play, with optional challenges available after beating the game. The balance is pretty good, I would like to see fewer turn skips, particularly on consecutive turns though. I look forward to playing any updates to this game.
