So as i was writing this review i came to find out that Arrowfell released the same exact day as the Bendy & The Ink Machine sequel. A RWBY game sharing a release date with the sequel to a game about an animation company’s horrific abuse of it’s employees... is hilarious ironic and sad at the sametime... the irony only made worst by making a Union leader one of the villains in the game. (And from what i understand it didn't help the game's sales because of said abuse controversy). Now as someone who liked Grimm Eclipse (Not a perfect game i know). And like the universe of RWBY (Never watched the show as i have been told by everyone it is a big mess, With the writing being inconsistent and even terrible at times). I had to try Arrowfell. And man... you can really tell they character assassinated James Ironwood in his sudden descent into villainy in Volume 8 from this game alone. If they really needed a dictator Jaques is like right there. Anyways off topic, back to the game. For a second attempt at a RWBY video game... it is unbearably mediocre at best. Which from what i have been told that is just proper course for RWBY overall. Filled with Interesting ideas that are thrown to the…6 found this helpful
The only good thing about this game is that Monty Oum didn't live to see it's release.2 found this helpful
I just finished the first chapter so here are my thoughts/first impressions/critiques, etc, of the game from the start as someone who is bad at games and platformers. I'll come update this the more i play 3 hours: I like it so far but I have a few points to make: 1. The learning curve is a bit steep, I feel like there could be better introduction to mechanics. For example, it doesn't tell you that Ruby's semblance can be used as a dodge, and they could've added a small tutorial on timing her dash to evade enemy attacks, especially because this is a crucial mechanic 2. The plot is not bad, it's kinda sad that the characters are not voiced more. The dialogue isn't too bad but sometimes the characters are so painfully overexplaining the situations or elements of the game, which I guess is normal 3. I feel like you should start off with 4 hearts because there's 4 characters 4. The platforming is not too hard, but I hardly play platformers, and struggled a lot at first to get the hang of it especially with no basic tutorial. Although that's probably just a skill issue 5. I don't get why there are ledges to jump onto in the first boss fight if you cant even evade its rolling attack and …2 found this helpful
