SaberSaw VR

7/10 - Time to cut. I really enjoy this game from the ability to put my swords together to make sparks to cutting things in half I hope to see it grow into something really fun. Personally I wasn't a huge fan of the deflecting parts as at least for me there was no sound or indicator that energy blasts were coming at you so it felt sometimes like you just died. It's a nice fun work out on survival mode but the game needs more depth to really shine. I hope this becomes a gem.

SaberSaw VR is a fast-paced virtual reality action game that focuses on simple but physically engaging combat built entirely around movement, reflexes, and arcade-style survival gameplay. Developed by James Oliver and published by Destined, the game places players inside futuristic arenas where waves of robotic enemies attack relentlessly from all directions. SaberSaw VR is a very badly made VR exclusive ripoff of Fruit Ninja... yes, another one. Wave your arms around to cut robot balls in half (what did the robots do to deserve that)?? There's a shield as well and in this ripoff, the fruit shoots at you, but you know, it's still worse than just playing Fruit Ninja on your phone. There's bad hit detection and the game isn't compatible with most, if not all VR headsets, so if you wanted to have a bad time in VR, this might not even be able to deliver that for you. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. This seems to have been made a VR exclusive to prevent any comparison with non-VR 3D games, a comparison that this game would fail very badly at. Save your money. Saw it's new low and wanted to give it a try. Ended up it's not working on Quest 3 through SteamVR (either Stable or Beta). Crashed instantly. Refunding now.
