About SAD RPG: A Social Anxiety Role Playing Game
SAD RPG : A Social Anxiety Role Playing Game is an experimental indie computer RPG game about social anxiety.
It's an unexpectedly colourful, weird and full of surprises journey with our own story about dealing with Social Anxiety Disorder.
SAD RPG is currently in development by Evil Indie Games and we plan to release it in 2021.
In SAD RPG: A Social Anxiety Role Playing Game the protagonist, since the very first moments of being awake in the morning, has to face the challenges of living in an odd vaporwave world of its own. Although everything seems to be more or less fine in the comfort of your bed, soon every move turns out to be a trial and there are anxiety monsters to battle at every corner of your town. Deep down you know it all exists only inside your head and in your heart but you play along, choose your path and put up a fight, but can you win, and how? The game explores the ups and downs of dealing with Social Anxiety Disorder, presenting a totally subjective and impressionistic depiction/view of the inner fight against it, based on real life experiences.
If you suffer from severe anxiety or you were diagnosed with anxiety disorder, please, approach our game with caution and proceed with care when you decide to play it. If experiencing too much unpleasant reaction or troublesome symptoms, act accordingly and do not hesitate to leave the game. Take a break now and then when needed so you won’t get too overwhelmed or upset while playing - it can also be a good idea to play the game in the company of a trusted friend/s.
We are not mental health specialists nor qualified professionals and our game is by no means intended for medicinal or therapeutical purposes. We aim at educating and sharing our own story and experiences, not replacing treatment or substituting professional advice. When you consider your anxiety bothersome and/or distressing we strongly recommend you the use of professional help and making your own appointment with a therapist, physician or other relevant specialist today. We believe in you!

This review isn't gonna be like the other reviews I write as it's a small game. All in all, I'm not sure how to feel about this game. I have social anxiety myself. It's nowhere near bad enough that it's a disorder. But I could look at some elements in the game, and genuinely connect with it. Like the portrait with a clown on it? Man, that hit hard. I think the game was trying to be a set-piece game of sorts where emphasis is given to the environment, and how we perceive it. For example, the anxiety attacks, which occur as turn-based RPG fight sequences, happen if you're doing something that isn't "by the book" from a social norm standpoint. Like walking in the middle of the road. At least, this is what I can tell, but I may be wrong about this. All that being said, the execution could've been way better. Clearly the game's abandoned, so there's no hopes for the game getting any better than it really is right now, so I can't in good conscience recommend getting it in the first place. You're often bombarded with these random encounters with weird faces. It's like the entire floor is the grass from Pokemon, and you have no idea if taking another step will trigger a fight. …3 found this helpful
i have to wonder if this has now been abandoned. i appear to have been removed from the Discord server or it was entirely shut down, the link doesn't work for it anymore and their twitter page is dead. which is very ...SAD if you ask me. would not recommend in the state it is currently in, unfortunately.2 found this helpful
Those who enjoy 'weird' games may enjoy this, though those with actual social anxiety disorder may find it crass and borderline-insulting. The developers presumably wanted to make a genuine point - that social anxiety disorder is exhausting and debilitating - but the tone comes across more as mockery than sympathy. But that's just my impression. As an actual game, there is little to really interest the mind. Battles are annoying, the day-glo aspect of the graphics is ugly and off-putting, and the music and electronically generated narrator's voice are dehumanising. Overall, more depressing than fun - but maybe that's the point.1 found this helpful
Mid ish accurate
I had high hopes with the concept but it just ends up being boring at best, and frustrating at worst.
