About Shadows of Duat
Egypt, 1923. A young archaeologist discovers the gigantic tomb of an unnamed pharaoh. As she and her team descend into the tomb, it seems to come alive and closes completely, plunging them into darkness. Pharaoh has awakened from his eternal sleep, as well as his armies who impatiently await his orders.
Shadows of Duat is an old school survival horror set in Egypt. An indie game with the essence of the classics of the genre, but modern gameplay, with realistic graphics, immersive sound and over-the-shoulder view. A difficult and terrifying challenge only for the bravest.
This story takes place entirely inside a colossal Egyptian tomb full of secrets to discover, puzzles, traps, curses and spooky enemies, which you will have to face through your wits, due to the shortage of ammunition.
There are 4 main characters that you can embody: the Archaeologist, the Engineer, the Mercenary and the Sage. Each one has their own unique abilities and will allow you to experience the story from a different point of view.
The game is full of references and curiosities from Ancient Egypt, since its levels are based on the Egyptian underworld described in the Book of Gates.
In the darkness of the tomb, you must be alert to every sound, every mural or statue, which will give you clues about the dangers lurking around every corner. The tomb is alive and sometimes the same corridor can lead to different places with new threats, so the tension is constant. The scary thing is not being alone in the dark. It's not being alone in the dark.
The puzzles will be a recurring mechanic and the keys to solving them are in the details. Your observation capacity and your ingenuity will be rewarded. But often to fail can mean suffering a fateful fate.

I already know that you will think I got paid or something for this review, but I didn't (unfortunately because I'm poor but that's another story). This game is really good, in fact it's one of the best and most underrated survival horror I played in recent years. The setting alone is perfect and it's crazy that this is pretty much the only survival horror set entirely in an a forgotten Egyptian tomb. A beautiful love letter to the classic survival horror formula with its own spin and its own charm. It's punishing, claustrophobic and tense, with a lot to explore and experiment. If you are an old school survival horror fan there's really no excuse to not play this hidden gem. Huge Plus: the devs are so passionate and caring that as soon as I contacted them about an issue I encountered they reponded and put out a patch that fixed it THE SAME DAY. How cool is that? Barely runs on "Lenovo Gaming 3" .. needs a couple of trials & crashes before it finally opens. When it does run it glitches like hell .. ; especially during cut scenes & running . Fan runs like crazy. This is the very same device I've played all my Steam games on ; including monoliths like AC Origins , For Honor & Total War games. I've purchased it's soundtrack DLC and was extremely keen on trying it out ... legit felt let down .. devs told me that there is nothing more that they could do because it must be something from my end ... Didn't go too hard on them because as it turns out , only 2 brothers running the whole operation and I've been nagging on email in a span of 10 months trying to have them acknowledge the issue which ending up with nothing . I feel scammed nevertheless .. feel free to ignore my review if you have another device set to play on .
I have over 200 games in my library of all levels and quality and this is easily one of the coolest ones that I own. Its not super polished but its very good. Good graphics, smooth game play and an off the chain awesome ancient pyramid atmosphere. I love it, its great, and it looks like its going to get even better as I progress. It became a favorite after just a few moments of play.
