What if the cake instead of being a lie was what made you being chased by aliens? Have you ever thought of that? Well, the people behind this game certainly did as that is what triggers this run and gun game where you’re constantly being chased by one saucer across different worlds. You can only take one hit though so be fast and careful or try again and learn, that’s the way. At least, depending on the character you choose you can also upgrade your hit points and attack range and power. You’re certainly gonna need those in the later ones as you get to understand how to dodge and attack effectively. Regarding the characters, Piggy is the standard shooter with a decent jump upgraded to more directions than just horizontal, giving you a bigger cover to hit some enemies and bosses. Then Paraffin is the melee character that hits upon being nearby but not touching the enemies, so be careful with that; and Turr just summons a buck of little birds that will most likely die but at least they can very easily get revived with an upgrade (it’s actually easier to control it than it may seem). Randomly booted this game up tonight from my huge list of games and I wanted to leave a review to give this game more visibility. Super fun game if you're looking for something simple and challenging. I'll probably try to go for all of the achievements eventually.

While I happened to play this before Crowtel, this is absolutely a huge improvement over it imo. I do appreciate the more refined focus of welcoming core gameplay and wrappings, but allowing for a stronger, much more challenging post-game and completion. It admittedly is not for me, but I do think what is here will appeal a lot to fans of Cave Story and older PC indies that aim to emulate more arcade-y trappings. I don't have much criticism on it - it [i]could[/i] be longer, but I actually feel like it stays its welcome perfectly. There could be more "weapons" to pick up, but I feel the game is at its strongest as you learn your chosen character's attributes against levels you practice against over and over. I will say the "good ending" requirements are a bit much for me, but that's a tiny wrinkle in what is a incredibly delightful package most people should give a proper shot.
