Throughout the game, you are collecting all sorts of weapon relics and character relics. Weapon relics serves as a way to make your weapons more powerful or even change their functionality entirely while character relics are giving you cool bonuses to your character or upgrading your base stats. There are many different relics for each weapon and your character but you can have only 3 character relics and 6 weapons relics equipped at the time. So its entirely up to you to assemble a build, that fits your playstyle.
Hellforge is a mechanic that allows you to upgrade each relic further more. Every relic can be upgraded multiple times but each time you are doing the upgrade, the chance for successful upgrade is decreasing. When the upgrade fails, your relic is turned into broken state and you have to repair it.
Once you are done with the campaign, the Purgatory difficulty is unlocked where you can attempt to beat the campaign once again but on higher difficulty. Make sure to get yourself little bit upgraded before going in!
Everytime a level is completed, you can be greeted by a hooded figure who will offer you interesting deals but be aware, you'll have to sacrifice something in return.

SINNED is quite a special and weird addition to all these boomer shooters. It is a strange mix of things that it does well and things it does not do well. But overall I like this game and I think it is slightly above average. The originality in some of the things this game does deserve to be rewarded imo. What it does well is the level design and the environment overall. The bosses are probably the better fights here compared to the regular enemies, which is very unusual for a boomer shooter! They are quite good. The weapon arsenal is decent enough, but the best thing about it is that there is an upgrade system which gives this game some RPG elements. You pick up demon souls, which are like currency/gold for upgrading your weapons. There are also 3 slots for upgrading the character himself. Weapons may be upgraded with say, bigger explosions for the rocket launcher. Or being able to make arrows pierce even more targets with the bow. Character upgrades involve gaining more armor than normally when picking up armor pickups, or making powerup pickups last longer. It's very good but I give it 6/10 because the maps are just too big for how slow you are. Either the maps should've smaller or bunny hopping should've been in the game.2 found this helpful
As promised, now that the difficulty has been reduced, here comes an edit of my first review : In this glorious era of boomer shooters comes a new challenger : Sinned. Like Dusk, HROT or Cultic, Sinned embrace a gorgeous retro, ps1-like aesthetic mixed with a more actual gameplay. If you know those games, you will be in charted territory. Basically, you will slaughter demons with an arsenal of various weapons, and search for coloured keys to progress through levels. A well-known recipe. But if Sinned won't reinvent the wheel, it shines with its art direction, and deliver a top-notch hellish atmosphere. I love the graphics, horrifics and minimalists at the same time, they really give you the feeling of crossing infernal regions. The sounds effects are efficient as well. That being said, be prepared, this game will challenge your skills. You will be allowed to save only at specific moments, and tons of aggressive ennemies are waiting to rip you apart betwwen two checkpoints !2 found this helpful

Sorry but even with this game on sale I had to refund. Nice graphics, nice sounds and atmosphere and then there is blasphemous balancing issues concerning health and ammo. On normal difficulty it is just impossible to play this game as an average Joe player. This game is just not up to par. Steer clear of it.
