About Skelethrone: The Chronicles of Ericona
Assume the role of Derek Ericona, a lord destined for death by treachery, who avoided it in favor of a more grim fate. You're in for a great adventure inspired by games like Castlevania and Dark Souls. Bloodthirsty monsters, divine creatures and epic boss battles. The game’s story is shaped by choices that will define your journey.
- Metroidvania - Unlock unique upgrades for movement and combat to expand the world. Maintaining the game's progression requires you to use different relics, items and abilities.
- Challenging bosses - Test your skills against multiple bosses and other creatures from the Dark Ages. The game will constantly test your patience as you face challenging battles that require their own unique approach.
- Combat galore - You must use an ever-expanding arsenal of weapons and equipment to repel a wide variety of enemies. Put your courage, skills, and resolve on display for them.
- Exploration - The game features a huge world represented by a variety of hand-crafted levels. From fog-shrouded ruins, where undead corpses cling to any living being passing by, and shambling figures emerge. To the Sun-city that hides in the labyrinthine of an ancient tomb where an unspeakable evil lingers, long forgotten by mankind.
- Non-linear exploration – Play through levels and bosses, discover side areas with more secrets and enemies to defeat.
- Weapons and Equipment – Your character can be armed with bows, scythes, longswords, whips, pistols, rifles, and many more traditional weapons. More exotic weapons will also be available to you, so use any means to achieve success.
- Multiple Endings – Make key decisions along the way to determine Ericona's fate as you progress through the story.

I'd hate to go negative on a single dev project, but unfortunately the game is just way too janky to recommend it. I do not think it's a good buy even on sale. What makes it even more sad for me is that the game clearly has genuine effort and interesting ideas put into it. There are lots of things in the game that could have been great if they were better implemented. For example, character progression has some interesting ideas, but the split between the typical souls leveling and the skill tree leveling just doesn't make sense. The game has a variety of builds and weapons, but there no scaling, so you are forced to always go for bigger base damage. There are many small details like that all over the game. The art style is probably as close as something in this game get to being genuinely good. It's very cool and creative, and giving great dark fantasy vibes. The level design is also quite decent and the metroidvania element is enjoyable. The soundtrack is surprisingly good. The game works well on Steam Deck. That's where the clear positives end. Unfortunately, the game is very hard to enjoy due to *both* the combat and the platforming being incredibly janky. The combat feels s…
It's pretty bad sadly. - Inconsistent parries, sometimes they stagger sometimes they don't. Attacks generally have no weight behind them, feels pretty bad; - Map is terrible , very hard to see stuff on it (entries/exists), i got lost too much; - stats are poorly explained, translation is terrible in general; Art is cool i guess.
I thought it would be a normal metroidvania like blasphemous, but instead I got dark souls with the fact that I have to constantly watch the stamina bar and mobs almost never show when they attack so it's hard to counter that. I like hard games and challenges but this is not for me.
The Winged Knight completely killed any interest I had in actually finishing the game.
Awesome dark Metroidvania game. It's hard and I hate hard game but this game doesn't punish you hard. You respawn close by with heals and you make it the next time. You have checkpoints you can activate, you can fast travel, It has Blasphemous type art style and vibes but it is way more forgiving, but not boring, You really have to explore areas. Lots of secrets and lots of armor and weapons and items to find. Runs great on the steamdeck. Check out the Demo, it is a prequel of the game, honestly the demo is just a small taste, the man game it gets real good real fast. Get it on sale. Once I beat this I am going to pick up the DLC.
Awesome.
