A BYU Center for Animation Student Project

This project was planned, designed, and developed by a team of undergraduate students over the course of a year as a capstone, senior project for the BYU Center for Animation. We are extremely proud of the what we have accomplished during that time. With that said, you will probably encounter bugs and other issues during your gameplay experience that reflect both our experience (or lack thereof) and our tight development cycle. Many of us are moving on to jobs or graduate school, meaning updates post-release are very unlikely. Regardless, we appreciate your time and feedback, and hope you enjoy your time with SKYGUARD!

✦ AI summary

Players praise the game's arcade-style shooter gameplay, satisfying wave-based survival mechanics, and impressive quality for a student project, but the critical issue is the lack of keyboard and mouse support in a PC first-person shooter, which many find baffling or lazy. Common requests include adding traditional input support, implementing an endless mode instead of the current 10-minute limit, and expanding content like weapon variants and character progression systems.

Mouse and keyboard is not supported (in an EGOSHOOTER, mind you - this is either stupid or lazy) and my controller doesn't work why so ever.

Decent game. It being on steam for PC with controller only support is not a good choice tho. 5/10 Bring mouse and keyboard support.

The fact that this was a student project absolutely baffles me.

This game is a pretty amazing arcade style shooter. With a pretty good game play loop, I would say it's like a couple updates away form being an absolutely amazing game. That being said, currently it feels unfinished in a lot of ways. Like for example the lack of keyboard and mouse support in an fps shooter made in 2025 is wild. On top of that the game play only last for 10 minutes and there no endless mod or character leveling nothing. That being said I think that this game could be like the airship equivalent of cod zombies if giving the right updates. What I mean by that is that this game would work really well as a round based endless survival game were you upgrade your weapons and survive as long as possible. Additionally, if the game had more gun variants and a character upgrade system of some sort it would greatly improve the game play. (with keyboard and mouse support of course.) Now you may be asking in the games current state would I recommend it, and the answer is yes it's pretty fun i just wish there was more too the game than there is.

Lack of Keyboard and Mouse aside, this is an impressive good simple game for a student project. All I'll request is an endless mode. I'm a call of duty zombies fan and I'd love it if you had a gamemode where there's no round limit and I guess removing the protect the ship objective and have limited lives in this potential endless mode, assuming that isn't in the game as far as I'm aware. I got to round 7 and I won apparently. but as it is right now, I hope you got a good grade for this. definitely worth a playthrough. I have more respect for this than highguard.
