About Solarium
Solarium is about plants – in space. You’re in a distant future in a distant galaxy. A race of aliens has cooperated with earthlings to explore the galaxies and document all forms of life for preservation, just in case their home worlds are destroyed. It’s called the Solarium Initiative. The DNA is taken to an intergalactic botanical study center where each environment is painstakingly reconstructed. You are a botanist-in-training from earth, and you must visit the earth environments to learn about their plants before setting out on an actual expedition. Answer skill-testing questions, earn points, overcome challenges, and then build your own custom garden of beautiful and strange plants!

"Solarium" is a rather unusual "educational" game where you wander around a bunch of environments and "learn" a little about the plants. The problem is you don't learn much, and while the graphics look pretty good as far as free games, the substance isn't there to back it up. It's also not much of an educational resource if you want to learn anything about botany or biology. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming idustry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? a short, free, educational-ish game that is pretty good for it's small amount of developers. one of the first games i got on steam as a middle-schooler with no money. replaying it at 19 makes me nostalgic
A fun way to learn about plants, growth and other things. Pleasant and refreshing :)
