Soulbind: Prologue

"Soulbind: Prologue" is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "Soulbind: Tales of the Underworld". Soulbind: Tales of the Underworld is a poorly made and objectively failed platformer with a gimmick that allows you to upgrade by using parts of your dead enemies, and relies on fake/paid Steam reviews to get sales (hint: It didn't work). But this isn't completely relevant because this is not Soulbind: Tales of the Underworld, it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "Soulbind: Prologue" too. The purpose of this advertisement and the rather large number of fake/paid reviews on it is to get you to shell out $8 USD to buy the full product, and given the shockingly unethical nature of the developer, I can't recommend that. …

A Fresh Take on the Metroidvania Formula. This game marks a unique entry into the Metroidvania genre, offering a refreshing twist that sets it apart from more traditional titles like Castlevania or Dead Cells. While it doesn’t quite match those games in terms of movement precision, there’s a slight looseness to the controls that may take some getting used to—it more than compensates with a compelling game-play hook and a striking art style. The core mechanics introduce a satisfying loop that kept me engaged, blending exploration with a sense of mystery and progression that feels earned. The visual design is especially noteworthy: whether it’s hand-drawn animation, atmospheric lighting, or a distinctive color palette, the aesthetic choices elevate the experience and give the world a memorable identity. Despite its minor shortcomings in control responsiveness, the game’s creativity and charm shine through. It’s clear the developers had a strong vision, and it’s one I’m excited to support. I’ll definitely be buying this game, and I’m hoping it continues to evolve post-launch.

i liked the prolog, and the gameplay too, i guess i am gonna buy the actual game, hardly recommend to play
