About Soulkin

Soulkin is a tactical, Roguelite game that blends strategic monster-collecting with turn-based combat. As the summoned heroine, Nadia, you’ll harness the power of Souls to bond with magical creatures and lead them against the encroaching corruption threatening Ankiril. This mystical world, anchored around a colossal tree, teems with magical creatures known as Soulkin, each infused with the power of elements. Will you rise to the challenge and become the savior of Ankiril?  Engage in turn-based battles that require tactical positioning and clever use of your Soulkin’ abilities. Adapt your tactics to overcome formidable foes and environmental challenges on a hexagonal grid.  Select from multiple Soulkin squads and Nadia variants, each boasting distinct elemental strengths and playstyles. As you complete objectives, you’ll unlock new squads, additional power-ups, and stronger abilities. Strategically choose and enhance your squad to confront Ankiril’s ever-growing threats. Navigate through challenging encounters and unlock new events, bonuses, and increased stats. Your journey will be difficult, but the rewards are plentiful for those who persevere.  Each chapter offers a fresh and unique gameplay experience with dynamic maps, battles, and events. This ensures varied and exciting playthroughs every time, keeping the gameplay engaging and unpredictable.

I truly cannot understand why there is only one negative review out of 21 reviews. Mine won't count toward the overall reviews because I saved a few dollars and bought it on Gee Two Eh (which turned out to be one of the few positives about this whole situation). I get it. You made a very simplistic roguelite, therefore, you want the upgrades to feel significant because there really aren't that many. The problem with that is that by designing the game that way, you make the early game grind ridiculous and boring. I had four runs in the four hours I played. I made it to the first boss three out of the four runs. The first time I got to the first boss, I died and was unable to upgrade ANYTHING for the next run. This is an insane design flaw. The entire premise behind roguelites is that you are at least a LITTLE bit more powerful or have some sort of upgrade for each subsequent run. After I made it to the first boss, died, and then went back to the main menu to find out I couldn't upgrade a single thing, I was completely deflated and flabbergasted. Still, I pressed on, thinking it might get better. It didn't. So I start run two with the exact same loadout as the first, make it to the …

I was thinking a long Time if i should write a review or not my main reason for writing now is that most reviews were written in EA and that was a different game for everyone thinking of bying the game please ignore the EA marked reviews In EA it was more Free and it was a Creature Collector, now its more like a normal rougelite there you get new loadouts (they turned a fresh and new game into a normal rougelite that feels the same as all the others). the game is not really bad, but it is not as good as in EA Most of my playtime is from EA and after the massive change in the Game i can not really bring myself to like it, so i only beat the first boss and dropped it

A super simple, charming little tactics game that is marred by careless design and lack of polish. UI could be more responsive, consistent and informative. Multiple character traits have upgrades that do exactly the same thing as the base version. There are at least two traits that do the same thing but are named differently, but thematically similarly, suggesting different design revisions made it into production. That said, fun to play in 60-90 minute bursts and the art is cute. It is too simple to play for much longer than that without getting bored unless you are specifically looking for that kind of experience. Most people will probably drop it altogether after 5 or 6 hours, Even hardcore completionists will likely be struggling by 30 hours... and they'll need another 20+ to get a full clear thanks to how upgrade costs skyrocket.

Generic roguelike with traditional tactical battles on a grid. You have probably seen everything before. Game feels very derivative and honestly quite uninspiring. It's slow and clunky with expected tactical battle optimization, with little fresh added. If you have played Heroes of Might and Magic or similar games and any of the roguelikes following in the vein of Slay the Spire, it will feel like you already have played this game and are bored of it.

A fun little Roguelike with a nice variety of creature collector-inspired monsters. Definitely easier than most Roguelikes I've seen, but it serves well for those who want a milder take on the genre. Full review: https://youtu.be/lHy4LexeR9c

So far I've really enjoyed Soulkin! Its turn based strategy game with a twist thanks to its mechanic of collecting creatures (Soulkins). First minutes of my gameplay were more of finding out how the game works, but as I got killed and tried again I understood everything rather intuitively, which is something I really enjoy rather than the game just showing you exactly how to do it. There are many Soulkins that you can collect and that have different strategies for you to discover, it would be great if it gets more complex and more Soulkins / status effects are added.
