Speer DX, developed and published by Ohsat Games, is a minimalist puzzle-platformer that demonstrates how a single, well-executed idea can carry an entire game when it’s explored with enough creativity and discipline. At a glance, it looks deceptively simple—pixel graphics, compact levels, and a limited set of controls—but the experience quickly reveals itself as something far more intricate. It’s a game built on precision, experimentation, and the gradual mastery of a mechanic that continues to evolve in subtle but meaningful ways. The central concept revolves around the use of a throwable spear, which functions as both a traversal tool and a problem-solving device. You can embed it into walls to create temporary platforms, use it to trigger switches, or reposition it to open new paths through each level. What makes this mechanic compelling is how tightly it’s integrated into every aspect of the game. Level design is the game’s strongest feature. The stages are short and self-contained, often fit…1 found this helpful
Despite the simple premise, this was a lot of fun - I played for a few minutes and instantly got hooked, ended up spending hours on it
Amazing little puzzle platformer that gets ridiculously hard to 100% by the end of world 3. Get luck, have fun, don't die.
Fast paced puzzle platformer with smoov controls, crisp retro graphics and excellent level design. I love this game!
Great little puzzle platformer with NES art style and a well build learning curve. 100% in just under 6 hours. More short reviews for hidden gems at my curator page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44819215-Lesser-Known-Hidden-Gems/
A very movement focused puzzle game, the platforming outshines the puzzle elements but not in a bad way, for the first chunk of the game the puzzles are really simple and mostly get you comfortable with the movement and what the items do, but the last half of the game really shines when the puzzles start to get more complex and the platforming stays as fun and involved as ever.
