Well, I don't hate this game, but if you are considering buying it, Here are some things I want you to know before making your decisions(they are all negative): First, while the developers claimed a total of 3 hours of gameplay. You are more than likely to only experience 1~2 hours if you don't get stuck on the gameplay side of things. Just purely based on the "a dollar per hour" rule, you will not get what your money's worth. Second, the friendly, fun, cozy interactions between characters end like 1/3 into the game. The game goes full escalation right after a certain event that I will not elaborate on. So, if you are here for the character interactions, you will not get what your money's worth. Third, the game doesn't really explore the theme it wants to explore. The game wants to talk about how people deal with fate, unfairness, and all that, but it simply throws in a bunch of surface-level representations of supposedly a wide range of attitudes(not that wide actually) and calls it a day. I feel bad leaving a negative review because Starweave clearly has a lot of heart and soul put into it. I REALLY wanted to like this game, and in its best moments, it IS absolutely fantastic. But those moments ultimately just emphasize the rest of the game’s issues. Overall, the flaws hold the project back too much for me. Starting with the positives - the art is GORGEOUS and easily the highlight of the whole game. Character designs are charming and the environments are atmospheric. The music and voice acting were both solid and suited the mood well. Combat is intentionally frustrating at first, but the longer you play, the more those limitations slowly start feeling like a fun puzzle to solve. Getting a hang of the gameplay is what ultimately kept me playing to the end and I had a lot of fun with the turn-based combat. It’s a simple twist on a standard formula that suits the game’s themes well. However, what ultimately held the project back for me was the narrative - which, since this was sold as a story-driven RPG - is ultimately what I was playing the game for. Beautiful art and voice acting. Also it has engaging gameplay that goes against conventions of a strategy game. It confused me at first, but when I learned to adjust to how the game wanted me to listen to the characters, it became an awesome experience. Well worth the time!

short but sweet game.

a short and sweet story. the voice acting is great and the characters are compelling! i like the combat mechanics as well. perfect if you are running short on time but want to experience a good story.

a very short game that still is very enjoyable with lots of pretty art my only complaint is that the game is definitely too short and as such is a little rushed in its development and payoff. though it doesnt actually detract much from the story. this shortness makes sense though considering that the game is a student project. tldr(even though its like 3 lines): a pretty game thats perhaps too short but atleast theres a good reason that it is short.
